May I know... why my posting has been marked as ‘Spam” by Ankush Das…?

Posted Date: 07 Feb 2009      Posted By: Harish Jharia      Member Level: Diamond     Points: 1   Responses: 11

I posted a message (a)…
subsequently I posted another message (b) in response to a comment by Dr Akbar Khan…
The second message (b) has been marked as ‘Spam’ by Ankush Das… May I know the reason behind it… have I violated any community guideline… if yes then please guide me…
I am a new member joined the ISC on 1/30/2009 (1:24:02 PM)… with a strong enthusiasm…
Nevertheless, this negative marking has hurt me a lot and discouraged against making efforts to contribute / share whatever I know / feel…

(a) My Original Message Posted:

Are Hindus and Sikhs different religions…? In spite of officially recognized by government as different sects…

Sikhism was a part of Hindu faith (a panth) until 1947 like Arya Samaj and Sanatanis…
In fact, initially, Hindus used to volunteer one member of their family to become a Sikh (Shishya / disciple of the holy guru)… for preparing a strong force to counter contemporary forcible conversions in Auranghzeb’s regime… and to fight for independence from foreign invaders…

Becoming a Sikh, is not considered as ‘conversion’ and is never objected to… It is rather considered a pride for a Hindu to become a Sikh… Sikhs and Hindus use to visit and pray in gurudwaras and temples indiscriminant of their respective faiths recognized by the government…

After independence, Indian government categorized Sikh faith as a separate religion... Nevertheless, in spite of government’s categorization, majority of Hindus and Sikhs follow a common social regime, religious beliefs, mutual weddings between Hindus and Sikhs... Like a one single society...

Dr. Akbar khan,

Thanks for answering the subject line... please see the details also...

The important portions of my message are as follows...

1. "Hindus used to volunteer one member of their family to become a Sikh (Shishya / disciple of the holy guru)… for preparing a strong force to counter contemporary forcible conversions in Auranghzeb’s regime… and to fight for independence from foreign invaders"...

2. "Becoming a Sikh is not considered as ‘conversion’ and is never objected to… It is rather considered a pride for a Hindu to become a Sikh… Sikhs and Hindus use to visit and pray in gurudwaras and temples indiscriminant of their respective faiths"...

3. "Nevertheless, in spite of government’s categorization, majority of Hindus and Sikhs follow a common social regime, religious beliefs, mutual weddings between Hindus and Sikhs... like a one single society"...

Hi Harish
Can you give me the URL where your message has been considered as spam. I think being a new member we can guide to to post better for better revenue.

Hi Harish,
The reason for it is as follows.

In your forum thread, you had posted the content below-

'Sikhism was a part of Hindu faith (a panth) until 1947 like Arya Samaj and Sanatanis…
In fact, initially, Hindus used to volunteer one member of their family to become a Sikh (Shishya / disciple of the holy guru)… for preparing a strong force to counter contemporary forcible conversions in Auranghzeb’s regime… and to fight for independence from foreign invaders…

Fine no problem with this. But why did you go for posting the same information only with the exception that it has numbers before every paragraph. Now according to rules, that is surely a spam. The post you have posted is original but I did not get the reason behind why you posted the forum thread content as a response again. You can send me a PM to have more help regarding this but actually this is considered spam. You can't do this.

I know that you are a new member and might have not known this but there are many others who have learnt from this. This is more or less a learning experience. Please take it nothing more than a accidental mistake and continue. Your post was very nice but I don't think you really needed to do that.

Hi Dr.Sanjeev (Sandy),

Thanks for your prompt response.

Here is the link to my posting… out of which the 2nd one has been marked as a ‘spam’ by Ankush Das…

http://www.indiastudychannel.com/forum/25153-Are-Hindus-Sikhs-different-religions-In-spite-officially-recognized-different.aspx

In my message, I described one of the most important pages of the Indian history… dating back to the time when Aurangazeb ruled India. Those days when the rulers were the ultimate ringmasters and the subjects were reduced to the level of merely animals if not insects. That was the time when the people of India united under the command of holy gurus… and fought the oppressors.

It was a humble effort on my part, writing the message in a suitably worded text for internet users… mostly youngsters. I tried to share a glimpse of that golden era that sawed the seeds of self-respect, self-confidence and fearlessness, in the hearts, minds and souls of our ancestors against the mighty and ruthless beasts…thereby writing a golden chapter in the history of India.

I do not know the intellectual background of the person who took such an avoidable and extreme step against one of my most favorite pieces of work. Yet, I express my anguish against the autocratic, rude and blunt act of a member of a site that I wanted to join since long.

I do not find it justified for me to give my detailed introduction. Nevertheless, I must at least disclose that my eldest offspring is 38 and the youngest one is 34 years of age. I am a Mechanical Engineer by profession and worked extensively on Optoelectronics for 36 years.

I close it down before my expression of the pain of my wound prolongs indefinitely. I am not interested in earning revenue / money out of my postings; nor do I need… I just work on internet casually for passing my time in creative ways.

Thanks Doc indeed

Hi Harish,
Neither I said that you post was bad and neither I am autocratic nor rude nor blunt. Well, everyone makes mistakes and it is only a small mistake. What you have written is very good and I do not disrespect it but what I did was according to the forum rules. I still didn't get the fact that why did you really post the Forum thread again as a response itself. The member who responded must have seen it and only then posted his response. Do you get what I am speaking?

I have no malintentions to hurt anyone's feelings or to discourage anyone. You are a lot Senior to me both in terms of age and experience but the fact is that rules and rules and you cannot change it whatever you do. Well, if you want more guidance on using ISC, I invite you to come and chat with me on my ID at a4rocks(at)gmail.com. I must tell you that my hobby is to help everyone whether it be in ISC or in the real world. Most people here in ISC will be able to tell you that. I am very clean and frank about everything. I have nothing to hide and am as honest as you can see. I never wanted to hurt your feelings in anyway possible.

I have edited your forum response now and it is no longer negative. We never discourage anyone but always encourage people. Keep posting. That makes us happy and you too. Remember any help and all editors are always there beside you. Nobody is too far away. Just give me a message and I will be at your service. Would be glad if you can come and chat with me.

That's cool, standing 7th in Yahoo! Answers, that is just great. That shows your commitment to helping others. That is very cool. I also wish to help you and have now edited your forum response. I know that you are not going to challenge my editor's position and whatever happened was just a mistake. This will help you to be a better experienced person in ISC. Now if in the future someone in ISC is faced with this same dilemma, you can help that member and guide appropriately. Our editors are constantly striving for our members and thus we would like to see more from you so that we can fulfill our desire to help every member possible. It is our goal to reach the No. 1 position and it cannot be achieved without the help of members like you.

Harish Jharia,

Welcome to ISC.

I am webmaster of ISC. Hope the issues are sorted out. Feel free to contact me if there is anything I can do to make things easier here.

ISC editors, webmasters and members are one family. We are a very fast growing community with over 4 million page views a month. Due to our fast growth, several spammers target us everyday. Due to this, our editors are very strict on SPAM.

When a new member come to ISC and post messages, our editors have no idea whether the person is a spammer or good member. So, all messages from a new member will go through strict review to block the SPAM on the entrance itself.

Once we all realize that a person is a good contributor, editors would not bother about small mistakes.

That is exactly what happened in your case too. We mis understood your small mistake as an attempt of SPAM.

I do apologize for what happened. We all welcome you to be part of our ISC family of 88,000 members, 35 editors and 3 webmasters.

regards,
Tony John

Hi Harish
I have already given a reply in the forum where you described about sikhism. I am really impressed about your writing skill and have already mentioned in that forum, again I am mentioning the same thing here to write some good self written articles and post at resources and I know you are quite capable of.
Mistakes can happen on either side, so let us ignore it and contribute to our level best to make this site which is owned by all of us, a great site in all respect.

• Dear Ankush Das
• Dear Tony John
• Dear Sanjeev (Sandy)
• Dear Pankaj Gupta

Usually youngsters asked me… uncle why do we say, “blessing in disguise”… and why not “blessing unequivocal”…?

I always failed to answer this simple question that usually popup in adolescent minds…

Believe me I got the answer of this question today when I received so many lovely messages form you friends… full of sincerity, dedication, accountability, reliability and the highest grade of integrity…

Yes, this is a blessing in disguise… a thread initially stretched with twists and knots has abruptly turned into an art piece… I wonder how so many excellent human beings could assemble at one place… in this bad – bad – bad world… (sorry, i don't really mean it's 'bad')

Anyways, many-many thanks… for caring for my feelings… I will strive hard to contribute for the members and visitors of ISC… to the best of my ability… in my own humble ways…

Take care and Thanks indeed…
