The NDA faced a defeat because of its confusion in their prime ministeral's candidate and their HINDUTHUVA policis. Their was also a interna conflict between Rajnat Singh and Arun jailey, because of their confuion over Advani and Modi for their prime ministrial candidate. They performed well in Gujarat because of Modi, but they failed to do well i Utter Padeh,Bihar and Madya Pradeh. They pefom so poorly in Maharastra, were they expected to do well becaue their ally Shiva Sena has a wide spread popularity in that part of the country. Thus due to do their lack of leadership, confusion over the choice of the cadidate and inter paty coflict resulted in their defeat in the 2009 elections.

Good evening, My freind nda or national democratic alliance as we say it is a party consisting of bjp and other parties as its main constituents. Bjp is widely known for its stiff hinduistic approach and this can be considered as one of the reasons for its defeat but its a very small and unvital reason. Ndas defeat may be counted upon multifacated reasons as its weak politcal agenda and negative political campaigns. Ndas main agenda was that pm manmohan singh is a weak pm and L k advani a strong one whereas the agenda rebounded upon them only and was a major factor for their defeat. Apart from this personal feuds between the party members unearthed which was another factor. Another factor was the negative political campaign led by Narendra modi. Many do consider as varun gandhi also a factor but that may not be a major one. A very intense and wide political campaign led by Rahul Gandhi was a success. The success of nuclear deal by the congress govt. also was a major factor for upa success and nda failure. Considering all of these factors it was pretty definite that the upa had an edge over the nda leading for nda's defeat.

The reason for NDA's defeat is lack of partnership in states , and internal fighting between leaders within BJP . Normally BJP is not strong in Tamil Nadu , Kerala , North eastern states . They have small presence in southern states . One of the main reason is not able to form an alliance with Nithish Kumar's BJD in Bihar . In Indian democracy no party including Congress is not able to win seats on their own strength . It is a coallision that is determining the victory of parties since in India there are lot of regional parties who have local support. A weak opposition party is not good for democracy health . It is Advani who bring BJP to a strong position in the past . Not able to project Vajpayee as a P.M candidate is also a weak point. Irrespective of all reasons it is lack of strong partnership in some important states is the main reason for NDA's defeat .

I think that the main reason for the defeat of nda in 2009 general election was their campaign. There was so much issues which they could have formulated in their favor . they only focused on hanging sentence of Gilani and not the basic issues such as increasing prices of essential commodities. Another main reason for their defeat is the good election campaign of Congress. the campaign of congress was of so much influence that it changed the mind of very poor peaople also.
