Hello Members,
Recently I have been given the responsibility of Junior editor in the Ask Experts section. As a part of it Rajmi ma'am directed me to check some copied answers in it. I was surprised to see that nearly all the questions had some copied answers. In fact there were more copied answers that unique ones.
So here I am putting a few tips to give effective answers.
1) Firstly, Please read the question before you answer. I found irrelevant answers to some of the questions. This is even worse. The people who are copying answers are at least reading the question and finding answers in their searches. But those who are posting irrelevant answers are not even reading the questions.
2) Go through the questions and find some in which you are comfortable answering i.e. you can answer without additional help. Then you can answer the question in your own words.
3) If none of the questions meet your expertise and still you want to contribute, you can choose questions from which you think you can make some learning from.
For example I chose : Money Deposit in ICICI bank from other branch or bank because I think that the learning I make from answering this question would be useful for me in future.
Now since you do not know the answer, you refer it through Google or any search engine for that matter. You get some links. Read through them and get the answer into your mind.
For example : In my searches I went through the sites : http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/2008/02/20/stories/2008022051920600.htm and http://onlinesbi.com/osbi_rtgs_faq.html
Make sure all the sites you are referring to, are reliable to certain extent. In case of doubt, double check the matter with some other sites you get in the search.
Now you can either simply post the links, or else with the knowledge you gained write the answer for the question in your own words. The additional time includes reading and typing, but you would be appreciated for your work with good points and possibly cash credits. Copying content is just a waste of time with your Google searches and brings you a step closer from being banned from the section.
4) If a question is absolutely not related to you, it's better you don't attempt it .
You may refer through the guidelines for further reference.

It is a good collection of tips, how to answer not only in one section, it applies to all sections, it can be a ready reckoner to those who got more confusion than misconception, irrelevant answers not only wastes the time of respondents but importantly it wastes the time of editors. As suggested by the author, one needs to understand what is asked in the question.
Good work Maheedhar.
