Give India: Please vote for the education of children in India

Posted Date: 19 Jan 2010      Posted By:: Vandana       Member Level: Platinum    Member Rank: 12     Points: 1   Responses: 10

Give India is an NGO which collects funds which it gives to charities. All disbursements of funds are properly recorded & Give India ensures that the money is actually used for charitable purposes and not frittered away.

Give India is aiming to win $1million which it will use for the education of children in India.

Your 1 vote=1 child's education.

Here are the details:-
1 vote and 1 minute of your time can educate 1 child for a year. Help educate 40,000 children in India by voting for Give Foundation Inc at the following link: Chase Community Giving.

If you are not getting the link, please post the link in a Word document and get access.
The link is: http://apps.facebook.com/chasecommunitygiving/charities/338730

Note: You need to be a Facebook member in order to vote.

About the Prize Event:-
Give India was one of the top-100 charities in the Chase Community Giving event and thus qualified for Round 2 of the event to win the big prize of $1Mn.It is registered in the USA as Give Foundation Inc.

Chase Community Giving requires each NGO to submit a plan on how it intends to use the $1Mn prize. This is known as the "Big Idea" and is available at http://apps.facebook.com/chasecommunitygiving/charities/338730

GiveIndia plans to use the $1Mn grant to for educational sponsorships costing $43 per child per year thus providing access to education to more than 20,000 children through their partner NGOs. All partner NGOs have undergone due diligence, and are highly transparent and credible organizations. They are located across India and provide access to education to underprivileged children, including the girl child, tribal children and children from remote rural areas.

However, so that your vote counts and goes further Give India will take the balance of about $90,000 and run a matching campaign that raises an additional $1mn from individual donors. This balance will also help meet the operating costs of running this program, including costs of project monitoring, and tracking including regular quarterly updates. Thus Give India will be able to educate another 20,000 children and more than 40,000 in all.

Each $43 sponsorship will provide books, school bags and uniforms to the children as well as the education i.e. teachers salaries and other costs to ensure a quality education.

Give India believes that there are enough people who want to see this happen, enough people to ensure that we get 40,000 votes that will in turn help to educate 40,000 children. One VOTE = Education of one CHILD!

Voting in Round 2 of the event began on January 15 and ends on January 22.

I earnestly request ISC members to please vote NOW.

Somewhere a child in India is waiting for your vote...

Hi Vandana,
great initiative. Yes, being an educational site, I think if we all join hands and vote (atleast a 10000 members), I am sure we could educate a child each.

Hats off for your good work. I will cast my vote there today.

Regards,
RajmiArun,

@Krishnadas: Thanks for letting me know that the link is not displaying the page. There were spaces between the text in the link, hence the problem. I have rectified it. I have given the URL too in case the clickable link does not work.

@Rajmi: Thanks for your support. My relative works for Give India and has seen first-hand how well it functions. They do genuinely good work by disbursing funds to charities without keeping any of the funds for themselves. Through the work of Give India, the poor and the needy, children and old people of India are benefited. When my relative informed me of this charity event and the $1million prize, I thought ISC would be a great platform to get those votes.
