Buy gold ornaments which are hall marked by BIS - Bureau of Indian Standards. Gold prices keep on changing each day. Each day the price would be updated and displayed in the jewellery.
Studies have brought out that gold prices had reached a peak and may go down soon. So if your requirement is not urgent you may wait for a few weeks so that the prices may come down a bit.

Thats good. Gold is a safety saving these days. Everyday rates are going up.
But you might take some precautions. First a trustful shop is needed. Find out their history in this field. BIS Mark is must for purchase.
There are somany malpractices done in this field. Iridium, Ruthinium etc. are using for ornament production, which will cause cancer and other illness. If anybody giving heavy discounts, please avoid that shop. That there product will not reach with BIS.
BEWARE OF FRAUDS.

I know of a reputed old shop who is taking the guarantee that at any time in the future he will buy back the material at th market price existing then but was siting that hallmark or certificate could not be given by him. He also did show me raw gold (10 gms) which would not have artistic surcharge on it. Should i deal with the shop?

No,Gyanshankar. To be on the safe side, avoid dealing with shopkeepers who do not show you any hallmark/certificate. What guarantee that tomorrow when you discover the gold is fake or has little value and go to confront him, you will find the shutters down & he has vamoosed?
Always buy from a reputed jeweller who will show you genuine authenticity proof AND give you a proper receipt. Check the receipt too - that the shop name, address and contact numbers are there & the amount is exactly what you paid (don't allow him to con you in putting even a ruppee less on the bill than what you paid).
