I have seen almost all households who have small babies have employed maids to take care of the children. This is actually the trend in foreign countries where Baby sitters are a class of professionals. They are employed through agencies and are reliable. In India, however, the baby sitters are the maids who lo do household work. At many places, I have heard that the maids have stolen major things from the household, they have even up children's quota of food apart from their own, they beat the children due to short temper etc. How far are they reliable? Is the trend catching up in India at a ver fast pace? What do you all think about this?

I have seen parents taking their children early in the morning to the baby sitter's place and then they will go for work. In the evening when they come back from work , they go and call their child back. some people appoint full time or part time maid at home to do the household tasks and to take care of their children in their absence. But I do not trust these people, there might be good people but I cannot take a risk with, my child's life. Once it came in a TV channel that a child was left with the maid when his parents went to work. The maid was so arrogant that she used to beat up the kid. The kid was so small that he could not even speak. When the parents came back home they saw spots in the child body, but when they asked the maid, she said it might be due to allergy and she is taking care of the child very well. The father had a doubt and he installed a CCTV in the house. That day when they came back from work, they played the video and it was so inhuman. The maid was simply beating up the child. She found some kind of pleasure in it. Another incident is a baby sitter used to give her urine to the kid to drink whenever the kid asked for water. In this case also the kid was so small. Finally when the kid got allergy, the parents took her to the clinic and found out the actual reason behind it. These are some incidents which has been reported in a foreign country. I know it as I have stayed there. I also know of a place where the baby sitter takes care of 12 or more children and she gives small doses of sleeping pills mixed in milk so that the children will sleep until their parents come. I really don't know how can these people be so cruel. I am not saying entire baby sitters are like this. But according to me none of them are relaible.

So in this regard I think t is a very risky one, it is better to take the help of some elders of the family, so that proper care should be given to a child, if it is so important to work, but if one can leave a job for some time and then take care of a child then it is better. There is no point in relying on maid who will take the care as a business and may appear as a threat for the safety of the child.

Let the parent be at any busy extent, she or he should be ready to take keen care of the child. The maids are working for money and they will never have care for our children. This idea of foreign countries lead to bad behavior in new generation and it is really bad to see the increasing number in India. Parents should be wise enough to take care and they should avoid the maids. If we don't have time to spend for u children, how can the maid do that? so parents should not promote the trend of baby sitting.
