T-20 cricket matches became most popular after the IPL series started in India. People from all walks of life celebrities, cricket sport lovers, common people are enjoying these matches either by going to the venue of the match or watching on TV . For many it is giving a lot of cheap entertainment during this summer vacation season. But this year's IPL tournament, a lot of issues like match fixing cases, betting cases, IPL players were booked in police cases and court cases due to their bad behavior etc. Members, I wish to know through this thread do you want that IPL tournaments should be continued in India or they should be banned? Discuss.

Such incidents do happen in every walk of life when inflow of money is in excess which makes a human being to alter his attitude to behave in such a bad way.

As a common man I must condemn such unruly and unholy behaviour and attitude of people who wish to make money in unethical way but just for that incidence I don't think it is necessary to ban the Indian Premier League.

We have come across many such incidents happened which involved many scams in recent days in which many politicians were involved and many such incidents were also proved but it does not mean that we should ban Parliament or political system in India.

T 20 is an entertaining format of the cricket. Test cricket and one day cricket lost much of their charm after the introduction of T 20. The IPL has brought much prominence and glamour to the T20 format.

People want to have inexpensive entertainment and IPL is one of them . IPL with its overseas players and the upcoming Indian players brought camaraderie among the players and this is good for the game.

Match fixing is a serious matter and it should be curbed by punishing the people responsible for it. Betting is there in all the games and it is very difficult to curb it.

The Indian Premier League has brought the glamour and popularity to the T 20 format of cricket. The IPL has brought chances to the upcoming players to come into the national scene.

According to e it showoff be banned; because I believe it consists of less cricket and rest everything is in unlimited states and this is really true as we are able to see all the think in the news channel.

After every cricket match; there will be celebration in the form of parties; where you can enjoy every kind of drinks and even an attempt to rape case have also filed; the what is the use of such arrangements?

If it will be spoil our culture like this and introduce girl who are dancing whenever a six and four are hit. This is not good and not acceptable at all.

Ms Veena Sharma

The young girls and boys dancing after a six or four was hit, is their expression of happiness. The days are changing and let the young people enjoy. Moral policing is not good. There is no harm to the culture. The youngsters these days know what they are doing.

Stray incidents of misbehavior of few people cannot be generalized.

Dear Sir
No there is no point in banning IPL over off field events, scams etc. I think we are being so rude over these incidents, every game has a past, which always acted as a setback for some events, and for some major games.
In Football also, there are number of incidents that resulted in violence but that never stopped people from going there to watch the match, that never eradicated the fans from the grounds.
In Lawn Tennis too, Monika Seles was stabbed nearly to death, in front of Staffi Grapf, whose fan has stabbed the former, but that never resulted in less public in those events, also Monika Seles also returned back.
So we must promote talent in IPL which is its motto, it has been an earning store for many, directly or indirectly so spirit should be maintained.

@Pankil,

I am surprised to see your last response as I have not seen Vandana's name anywhere here either in the thread or in any responses but why her name mentioned in your response.

Can you please come out with logical reasons why and how you have considered ISC is a showoff and why it must be banned?

I feel the subject in the thread should be discussed in detail not otherwise because author's thread is whether to ban IPL or not.

IPL has been associated more with glamour and cheap publicity every other day. Even today's newspaper had news of two players caught In a party which also had drugs in it. One IPL player has been charged guilty of molestation.

It seems to have more fun and bashes than cricket. Every single win is associated with late night parties and people misbehaving in those parties. The foreign players do not have an idea of the code of conduct in Indian society and. Misbehave with the female.models at the party.

Every big event has its own pros and cons but the event of IPL has created more of a furrow due to the other activities and money rolling in it than cricket.

IPl is a utter waste for India now. It is right that IPl brings money. But where that money goes. That really matters and plus the problems like these insist a ban for IPl. Still if we can bring a good league we can hop for a return of IPl. I saw that one member saying it is not right to ban and we should ban ISC also. That is totally wrong.ISc provides knowledge and what to ban here. It is a good site and IPl is immoral. The acts going there is about money and parties. Alcohol is the winner. So it is completely destroying the dignity of Cricket and it never helps the Indian cricket. And if we go for Money only the future won't be bright. So loo whether next IPl is good in acts and if not bring a strict ban.

Banning IPL is the most silly thing I have heard in recent times. It is like running away from a problem. True character of a person is tested when he courageously faces the problems and does not run away from them. If IPL has been facing some problems, just banning it would show India in poor light. It is a mega tournament and people who are asking for ban on IPL do not actually realize the benefits of IPL. IPL provides great platform for youngsters to perform and get selected for Indian team, local players get international exposure by training with international cricket players and get top-level coaching, etc. Any one who has witnessed an IPL game at the stadium will tell you that it has given them some lovely memories for a lifetime. I am not even mentioning the pay packages. Also, why do people forget that despite all the controversies surrounding IPL, the cricket played has been of the highest quality. The number of close finishes we had this year showed how competitive the teams were.

I just feel that those who want IPL to be banned, simply don't understand cricket. Whatever be the add-ons, IPL has always been about cricket and entertainment related to cricket. I would say if a college or company has some bad students or bad employees who get caught in criminal offences outside the college or company (during non-working hours), will you suggest banning the entire college or company? That would be extremely silly and similarly banning IPL would be ridiculous. I owe a lot to IPL because my entire family sits together and watches some great matches just for the love of cricket. IPL has proven to be a great stress-buster in the hot months of April and May. IPL is here to stay and some non-cricketing reasons cannot stop it from continuing.

Thanks & Best Regards,
Bhaktee

As IPL is one of the biggest yearly moments in India and in India is cricket is treated like religion, so due to this popularity and money involved in this game such incidents will happen. So what? We face many such incidents in every field of life and there is nothing wrong in the happening of such incidents. Such incidents decides who are good and who are bad. Also it is the chance for many Indian cricketers who aim to play for Indian team but not able to get selected due to some reasons. According to me IPL should be continued but some wrong things and traditions should be completely banned.

@ Bhakti, Sachin:
At least we have some one who will be exactly in a favor for the same.
I don't know why pthers ate having this misconception that where that money goes, There is also one benefit as I was listening to Rajiv Shukla that that money is being given to charity, for the development of the Indian Cricket, helping in upcoming cricketers for a better future etc.

IPL has become a big business. How much we are interested in somebody's business will decide how much we are interested in IPL.

IPL is an innovative way of generating big money by clever business men and corporates at the expense of small and ordinary people ( who spend their valuable time or money).

I do not think that Indian Premier League should be banned from India. It is one of the most innovative things that has come about in India and taken all of us by storm. I am not jealous of the players and officials who are earning a lot of money. As long as they are not making millions from my pocket, I have nothing against them.

Cricket is no more a game. Cricket has turned out as a business in this world. It is a money making game for the players and money spending game for the viewers. Cricket had its own credibility. These days players have lost it. I can boldly say that these days cricket like IPL is a useless game played by rich fools and watched by poor bloody fools and money minted by the rich business people.

I dont think IPL should be banned, but yes some positive alterations can be done to it. Example the cheerleaders can be turned a little more Indian to suit the taste and the mentality of the people here. IPL is a great way of unifying the world as different members from different countries play as a single team. This encourages brotherhood not only in sports arena, but it also has a good affect on the international relations between the countries.

Sir with all due respect to all replies and your question , I want to say that Indian cricket has found some great talent in many of the state players because of IPL. I think IPL also gives a little touch of international cricket experience because the players are able to play with some great overseas players. IPL is a great platform for new players to showcase their talent.

I think betting , parties , glamour ,match fixing and some more cases occur with international players as well. We cannot ban cricket at international level. I think we need strict rules to stop all these flaws related to IPL and cricket. We need to raise voice against these flaws not against IPL.

The T 20 format through which IPL is being played give ample entertainment to the cricket lovers and hence this type of game must be a treat to the eyes of those who yearn for good performance from the National and International players. More over the exposure of cricket this game gives is immense to the players as well as to the fans. Therefore this game should be held as per the schedule and what ever be the annoying matters must be sorted out beforehand.

I think that IPL is a good contest to develop a sense of oneness in the players not only in the world but also among all the cricketing nations. For one or two people the whole system should not be blamed or banned. It is necessary to understand the need of such a great platform for new players to start their carrier. We must try to have and encourage good sportsmanship rather than blaming old odds. In order to protect the gentleman's game we must come forward instead of condemning it.
