What is the use of safety door? Do you have one? Now if you will see; many of the flats in buildings have safety doors; which have almost become as important as having the main door; do you have one?
In my new flat; I have just told my carpenter to make one safety door; but the things is that I don't know the exact use of such type of doors; do you know what is the use of it? And tell me in detail if you can.
I feel it is like having expensive charges for making a safety door and plus one more doors to take care of; what do you think about it.

The doors are opaque, generally made of wood and the construction may not be strong in all cases. The residents , especially the womenfolk will not have a secure feeling. In order to rectify this situation, people generally fix(outside this door) an iron or aluminium door with strong frames and partial grill and partial plate piece , well secured with a night latch lock and bolt and even a flexible chain.
This helps the residents to keep the inside door open , thus having easy contact with opposite side neighbours, and also allowing some ventilation, at the same time having safety.
When the womenfolk or children are alone in the house, they will be able to view the strangers knocking at their door and can be safer by not opening the outside door.
These doors are common and not that much expensive. You can consult a few other residents in the apartment and make your optimum choice.
Wish you a safe and comfortable stay in your new flat.

So you need to check if you live in a flat then whether they have provided it or not. Remember Safety door is usually not commutable through the lift as in case of fire and in hurry we tend to take lift which is strictly a NO NO.

It is mainly an unbreakable steel grill with strong locks. Ladies and children while alone keep this door locked, and keep the main door open to facilitate blocking of entry of unauthorised persons. Also when no one is at home, the safety door provides highest security to the house.
Veena, It is very essential to have a safety door in your new flat as the situation in our country is different than the earlier. Don't go for cheap quality, go for the best quality with good artistic design and best construction with secured locking system.

But many of our homes do have front and back door , which is nothing but a safety door only. In apartment culture we are not having this facility of twin doors, and we are supposed to depend on main door or exit from the balcony which is very risky.

It gives a additional security in our home and we can lock it from inside the home, so that the people will not be able to get into the home.

A additional safety door is must with the main door,as it provide an additional security for our home from the unwanted intruders. These are made out of iron or steel rod or L shaped iron angles.
The flats in an apartments are generally deserted in the afternoon hours, the house wife or the children might be alone and there are chances that some unauthorized persons can make a way in by having an additional safety door they are very much safe.
Safety doors are isn't expensive and are easily available according to the size needed or can be made of our choice from a fabricator who manufacture these kinds of grill and doors.
Regards Ravi Shetty.
