How to disassociate my Kontera account

Posted Date: 17 Jun 2012      Posted By:: Venkiteswaran.     Member Level: Diamond    Member Rank: 21     Points: 5   Responses: 18

I have a Kontera account associated with ISC. But I find that there is not much use with this. The earning till day is NIL. But in adsense there is at least some positive growth, however small it is.

Kontera ads are actually on good keywords. Bu the ads are irrelevant in many situations. Moreover I find the Kontera circle and colouring and underline irritating, and I feel that it may dissuade people from reading the article, creating hindrance.

Hence I want to disassociate Kontera from my ISC contents.

How can I do this?

Dear Sir
I feel the same, whatever I earned till today it keeps on degrading day by day, what is the way of calculating the amount as it is quite confusing.

Venkiteswaran,
I think it will be a really BIG mistake to disassociate your Kontera account with ISC. True you will get negligible earnings compared to AdSense, but something is better than nothing. What you need to do is use better contextual words in you article as these words will get you the Kontera earnings. For example, from my own experience, if you post admissions articles, submit job posts and articles with good keywords, you can definitely start earning from Kontera ads. Kontera provides one excellent feature at your account page: keyword report. Have a look at which words are getting you the clicks. Then use those same words in a relevant way in as many posts as possible. Remember that earnings from Kontera ads, like Google ads, is based on clicks - it is not like affiliate program ads wherein the person who clicks should also buy & then only you will earn.

Let me explain in detail: let's say you are getting clicks from the word "college admissions" or the word "colleges". Now let's assume you have submitted an article related to careers or even an article for the 'how to submit' or 'how to apply' resource contest. In such articles, somewhere you can put in the keywords "college admissions" or the word "colleges". Of course, as I said, it should not be planted in some silly manner but should be put within a sentence with relevance.

I find that when members discover that their AdSense earnings have dropped, they put forum threads seeking advise. They don't do this for Kontera! Honestly, I am not endorsing Kontera just for the heck of it but because I have genuinely earned from Kontera ads. True, Kontera cheques may come just once or twice a year but see it this way: would you dismiss Rs.2500/- (1 cheque)or more as nothing? A little earning is better than nothing is my basic principle.

If you still want to disassociate your Kontera account at ISC, all you need to do is this: go to your profile page dashboard, click on 'manage third party revenue sharing' & in the box where you have put in your Kontera publisher ID and put in the digit 0.

Vandanaji, thanks for your sincere suggestion and detailed response. Giving deference to your experienced suggestion, I am not going to hurry and am going to keep my present view on hold.

I shall try to incorporate your suggestions.
Thanks.

Venkiteswaran,
One more thing I forgot to mention: if you also have your own blog(s) or website(s), do not put the same Kontera publisher ID code which you put at ISC. You need to inform Kontera that you would like to put Kontera ads at your blog/website & give the URLs. They will then issue to you a different Kontera code. You can get it by contacting them through your account via the help tab & check the implementation guide tab too on placing the code.

Vandanaji, Thanks again. As of now my field area is only ISC. Lack of knowledge in new fields, and lack of courage to venture into grey areas has kept me confined here. I use this platform to learn from others postsand articles. But somewhere in my mind all these are kept. When I feel confident and have some knowledge I may venture in those.

@Vandana Ma'am

Does Kontera really pays? For the last two months, my earning it still $0.01. Although i get 3 to 4 clicks everyday but the earning never increase. Has anyone of the members ever earned a cheque from Kontera?

Lienda

Earlier, Kontera CPC was considerably good but nowadays they are paying too less. I am sorry I disagree with Vandana Ji, but I feel giving away 4-5 visitors for just 1-2 cents is really too cheap a deal. Sometimes, you will see 2-3 clicks and no cent at all.

Thus, to earn $0.25, most people needs 60-70 or more clicks from Kontera. I believe that if even 1-2 persons out of those 60-70 visitors leaving the site through Kontera ads had clicked Google AdSense ads, the earning would have been nearly same.

It is not difficult to earn from Kontera. The problem at ISC is that because majority of its visitors are from India we get very low CPC.
However, if you can attract a larger share of US or European traffic you can earn good from Kontera too.
For instance I am able to get $0.5 to $1 daily from Kontera with <10 clicks because a quarter share of my traffic is from the US.

I am still not clear, how is it so that when we get clicks then also we get the saturated earning?
Why it is not adding up?

Iti,
When you get clicks from India, the average value of each click can be around 0.001. So, as Kontera counters have decimal records only upto 2 decimal places you cannot see the total earnings and as a result even after 4-5 clicks you might see only $0.01 as your earnings or not even that!
But you should rest assured that each click does give you some earnings.

Ankit Sinha

Okay
So this means what we are earn it adds up?
Right?
What I felt was that as If whatever we earn, it is getting deducted as we get less clicks on aggregate.

There is no deduction in your earnings. It only adds up.

I personally do know of a few members who are earning regularly (every second or third month they get a cheque from Kontera) from Kontera ads both through ISC & their blogs. In some cases, the earnings from their blogs is higher and, combined with the ISC earnings, they are happy. I do think it is a good idea to start one's own blog on a topic which interests you & get a Kontera code for the blog.

I am happy to see a healthy discussion with various inputs and valid justifications with experience.

But I remember having read somewhere that the earnings will be carried over only if it is $5 and for most it never happens and the exercise becomes just futile. Is my assumption right? May another worry is whether the kontera circle and interference discourages the viewer?

Venkiteswaran,
The minimum payout is $50, but once I got payment when it reached $60. The balance gets carried over to the next month. At any time you can request Kontera to let you know the balance in your account through the help tab.

I do not think Kontera ads are necessarily a distraction. The ad itself does not open unless the cursor is pointed at the word with the double lines below it (at ISC it is 2 pink lines or blue/pink with word/words in pink, at your blog it could be 2 blue lines with word in blue). Not all readers will point the cursor to such words. Those who are savvy about monetizing programs will be full aware that it is likely an ad hovering above the word. An extra curious reader may check out what those pink-underlined words are and may even click on the ad. which opens. As such, any contextual ad is less distracting than in-your-face ads (meaning they draw your eyes right away) such as ads of Google & affiliate programs. This, of course could be a disadvantage as it is the in-your-face ads which creates more curiosity & interest to check it out. On the other hand, if you use good keywords (you just have to self-learn for this!) contextual ads like Kontera can get a few earnings. I have also read lots of articles on how contextual ads of affiliate programs could get good earnings when used in the correct manner within the blog text.

I am happy that many of my presumptions(or misconceptions) get cleared by the course of discussion. The blue and pink difference is a clarified to me.
Thanks.

Hi,

This is Jonathan from Kontera. It looks like I've caught you guys at the tail end of this discussion, but I just wanted to add if you're worried about Kontera drawing readers away from your content, there's a way to take care of that 100% of the time. Here's an explanation on how you can get your Kontera ads to open in a new window: http://kb.kontera.com/questions/94/How+can+I+enable+ads+to+open+in+a+new+window%3F
