Members, Very recently the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh yadav has announced a bonanza of a car worth Rs. 20 lac that can be purchased from the MLA's fund. He has withdrawn this privilege after the protest from the public.
The question is: Should an MLA possess a costly car worth Rs. 20 lac bought from the government public fund. Can't the MLA use a standard car like Ambassador or Maruthi that cost below Rs. 5 lac. I think it is too much for a New Chief Minister who wants to play with the public money within few days of taking over power in the state. Is he a fit chief minister who does not know the value of money.
Members, What do you say ?

Thank God, politicians now do think and act immediately.

Who will bear the fuel expenses? who will bear the maintenance and repair cost? Who will pay the drivers salary? What will happen to the car after the completion of five years in power? Will it continue to be in the MLA's name as his own vehicle?
It is good that Akhlesh has taken a good decision and rolled back. Akhilesh should be very careful in announcing such bonanzas in future. If not, he will be branded as one of the most corrupted Chief Minister in India.

It was not going to be permanent to the MLA he has to left it back. Repair and driver cost was to be bearded by him as I think. I supported that for those MLA those who do not have a car should buy a car from government money and should use that vehicle in public interest. They should have a round daily in their constituency, should look out for common man problems and should try to provide solutions. But if that car is just to add property / cue of cars of a bad MLA the this is one of the most bad decison taken by any government.

Yes it is a fact that politicians simply have fun with the hard working money of the public thsi is we Indians. It is really not supposed to be like that.
Once a person comes to politics, the very first aim of his would be to get money from everywhere and to keep it in swiss bank and then make their childrens and family life and then there relatives.
After all this they think about the public who have actually supported them in so many ways. It is really unfair to us the citizens of India.

Really, political leaders are getting updated in their inner school of crookedness regularly. They are very clever enough to avoid the protest of the public. And these people are befooled by some consolation.
The politicians just play in public money like their own. They don't deserve to be in the post where they are in. It is only the people who vote for them. That's why public money or fund should be exclusively used for social and peoples' welfare. No other way of expenditure of lootpaat.

How the politicians will know the problem of common people if they will travel in high class cars in ACs and Z+ security. Never a good ? Indian will favor this. It is just like misuse of money of common man which he pays through taxes. It is a very bad decision if implemented. There was a news that it was implemented in Uttar Pradesh. No one will ever support this.

They are just public servants; not a master of public. My suggestion is that all the political leaders and members should use the public transport facility. Then only they will understand the real pain of the public who suffer by issue with public transport. The funds allotted to MLA's and other ministers are for public's needs. But most of the time they are using it for their personal needs. Sometime I have seen that some MLA's giving more publicity through media after giving money from their fund for public need. Really this money is coming from public's pocket in form of tax. So its public's right to use that money. It's not like compensation from any political leaders.

I agree with Bipin, Every government transport or private transport should earmark a seat near the driver seat or the conductor seat as MLA seat. No one should be permitted to occupy this seat if any MLA travels. Any passenger seated on that seat should give it up to the MLA if he board the transport. It should not be VIP seat. Then every small body like councillors will start claiming that he is an VIP. It should be only for an MP or MLA. Thus the MP or MLA will realise the difficulties of the public. A very good idea to be implemented ASAP.

To get name and fame and also initiate earnings which they have invested in the election process. So these kind of freebies and foreign jaunts offer to MLA's is continuing every year. In AP too after the last day of the Assembly session ends, the govt gifts each legislature with the suitcase, only god knows what is inside in it. But this practice has been going on every where. Now your question is forthright, but the answer is that they have the right to get such gifts as the mark of gratitude and in this process the public money is wasted and we are mute spectators.

Government can offer their MLAs a good new Nano car worth Rs. 1 lac. from the public fund. MLAs should not dream for luxury life. They should live with the people to understand the difficulty of people. As suggested by Mr. Sun, permanent seats can be allotted for the MLAs in local transport buses to travel with bus passes to visit their constituency, and in state express buses to visit the capital of the state to attend assembly sessions. This will help to know the pulse of the people and will help to get votes in future elections.
