Design monsoon wear contest: gear up for the rains! (date extended) |

Bored with writing articles? Here's something different & fun to do...
With the heavens opening up, it is time to unleash your designs! Show us your unique skills: design monsoon gear, any size, any colour, for just about anybody - kids, teens, adults, senior citizens. Think of rainwear, footwear to walk around in during the rains, umbrellas, caps, covers for vehicles, even accessories for gadgets or to go with clothing. Keep in mind that you are designing specifically for the rains so think waterproof stuff!
How to take part: Put in some text. Write about why you thought of that particular design & how you conceptualized it. You can mention the people involved in your project (siblings, parents, kids, friends, etc). You could even do a survey, asking people in your locality what they look for in monsoon gear & get ideas. Submit sketches, photos of the product-in-the-making, final design photo, info collected through surveys...whatever. You can submit the step-by-step process too at YouTube and embed it in your resource.
The design must be submitted in: Resources » Designer Ideas » Miscellaneous. After you submit your articles there, please provide the URLs as a response in this thread. You can submit multiple entries & inter-link them. For example, if you have thought of a easy-to-use (without buttons) rainwear for your grandmother, you can submit a separate design for easy to slip on rain footwear too & inter-link them. Think out of the box. We are looking for creativity, not SEO skills.
Update: Last date for submissions: 24th July 2012. We will give slightly higher cash credits than for the usual resource contests.

Wow, completely new concepts introduced in ISC. I welcome this move of editors. Really a unique and creative contest, lets see the designer members of our ISC. Now its time for our designer members to showcase something new and creative. Wishing them all the best.

Thanks for introducing a contest for designing monsoon wear. However, you forgot to include to tell the members to submit the URL of the designs posted at resource section in this thread which is a must for you to go through the designs and select the best. So there is a word limit and we will have to submit the link here in this forum?
Or will it be like a Admission Notification resource section contest, that we need to post the link, they will be traced by the in charge etc?

Yes, you need to submit the link of your posts here in this thread (Thanks Sun for pointing that out). I also suggest that if you have friends studying fashion design courses to join ISC (remember to give your referral link to them so that you benefit!) and take part in this contest. You can also share this forum thread on social networking sites through the share, Digg, Tweet, +1 buttons provided.

A great concept. Now one can enjoy monsoon with ISC also. Lets gonna find the new designer talents from the ISC. Hope in future some more concept like this can be expected from ISC.

This is a new idea, nothing like this has ever come on ISC before. It is not a very easy contest but I am sure many people will come up with new ideas here. Especially fashion designers, they can give new suggestions in this contest.

This is a different kind of contest which has been announced by the Managing Editor of this site. Ms. Vandana has been initiating contests which have been out of box ideas which make the members of this site to expedite and do brain storming.
This contest might see more of entries unlike the contest on designing board game. Lets wait and watch the participation of the members in this different kind of contest.

Do we have to submit the proper designs or just a rough idea about it?
I am asking this as it's not necessary that we will be able draw the designs exactly what we wish to. Please clear my doubt regarding this. I have drawn some designs but was not able to show my ideas clearly. Can we use the similar images of the design we want, from the internet? Or a rough idea in words will be okay?

Images from the Internet cannot be taken as it would be violating copyright laws. I suggest you use the Paint section or Powerpoint program on your computer to create your designs. We are not looking for some top-notch artistic sketches. Even a rough idea to convey what your design is would be enough. The point of this contest is to instill a sense of fun & goad members to try out something new which they have never attempted before. For example, let's say you want to design a new type of shoes for the monsoon. Take a photo of your own shoes and using Paint or Powerpoint tools cut out the parts and replace with your own design and colours. There are also images in the Clip Art feature which are free to use.
