The education system followed in many countries of the world emphasizes very much on book knowledge. Most of the subjects taught only needs the student to have a good brain so as to be able to recall the points. There is very little room left for the student to be creative in their education. You only need to revise all the notes given by the teacher. The exam is always based on these topics.
The examination board of countries should be encouraged to give exam questions which necessitate the student to think out of the box. All the questions should not be based on the set syllabi given by the examination board. In such a way a student would be ready for anything. Such a student will be very creative throughout their lives since they have been taught to expect surprises in any undertaking they are involved in.
Technical subjects are very good because the examination board can set a question in such a way that research ability of a student is called for. This easily opens the way for future scientists who eventually discover new phenomenon. On the other hand if you only teach students the act of memorizing, very few of these will eventually have the courage to discover anything new. This is because they will only have been taught to master what others have discovered or developed.
For the education system in countries to be relevant, the teachers must be highly learned. In most European countries for a teacher to be allowed to handle a class, they must have acquired a phd degree in their line of subject. Such a teacher is very confident when teaching the students. They can even easily move from the set syllabi if they feel that other methods of learning would lead to a better understanding of the subject. Their students have a lot of confidence in them and therefore take everything taught by them without much argument.

Hello Friend,
I agree with your opinion that our country
Education System emphasize on Bookish knowledge
. This kind of topic already discussed many times in ISC forum section. I think the main reason for this approach is our Government and our teachers. The Government not impose such kind of syllabus and the teachers not taught practical subjects up to the mark. I think now days students need to follow one thing for any topic
What,Why,By Whom
, i think this approach will provide the students more knowledge. Due to the theory system in our country most of our students are not able to got job in various company's because the lack of practicals. In company's practical work is asked not ask to do theory. SO the Government should need to think about this.

Stephen you too talking like this? Bookish knowledge is essential for practical knowledge, our halfhand persons will come to the decision that the bookish knowledge is not necessary for a student. Practical and theoretical study scheme only develops the nation this much advancement and our bright youngsters are improvising the economy of many countries other than our own.

There is no point surrendering you to the bookish knowledge. Though it is fact that the importance of knowledge provided by school books cannot be denied completely. But at the same time practical knowledge is equally important. In last couple of years things have improved as school has started giving practical knowledge by making certain industry trainings a compulsory part of education.
Like in MBA course one has to go for practical training to get the degree. Likewise in CA course one has to complete 3.5 years long article ship to get the membership of ICAI. I think in near future as well things will improve and focus will be shifted from bookish knowledge.
