Since he removes all the obstacles in our life, he is referred as Vigna Vinayaka.

1. Lord Vinayaka is son of Lord Shiva.
2. Lord Vinayaka is married in North India; Unmarried in South India.
3. In North India, the wives of Lord Vinayaka are Siddhi & Buddhi.
4. Because of his physique, I think.
5. Modhaham.
6. Parasuraamaa.
7. Lord Karthikeya or Lord Muruga.
8. A Guineapig or Big Rat.
9. He broke it to write Mahabharatha as dictated by Vyasa.

1. Who is lord Vinayaka? Is a Hindu Lord and is worshiped to remove all obstacle in life.
2. Is lord Vinayaka a bachelor or married? - yes, Lord Ganesha is married and has 2 wives.
3. If married, who is/are his wive/wives? - Rudhi and Siddhi are his two wives (I think i got their names correct)
4. If not married, why is he not married? - There is a saying i our language that Lord Ganesha is not married as when he asked Lord Siva, his dad when his marriage is? Lord Siva replied It will happen "tomorrow" Every day has got a tomorrow, therefore he is not married so far. Only when a day by the name "tomorrow" comes, he can marry.
5. What is the favourite dish liked by lord Vinayaka? - I do not know the English word for it but in Malayalam we say Unniappam (Modak, I think in Hindi)
6. Who is the saint who punched on the head of lord Vinayaka? - No idea about this.
7. Who is brother of Vinayaka? - Lord Muruga is his only brother.
8. What is the vehicle used by Vinayaka? - Rat
9. Why one of the tusk/teeth of Vinayaka is broken? Give reason. - I think by birth it was broken. Not sure of this answer too.
10. Why do we find most of the Vinayaka temples situated in the river banks and water borne areas? - No idea about this one too. In fact I have not noticed it so far as almost all temples have a pond nearby.

I have tried my best to give this answer with my memory I do not know if all that right. Anyway it was good quiz posted by you.

Here are my answers for you questions:
Answer 1- Lord Vinayaka is the son of lord Shiva and goddess Parvati.
Answer 2- Lord Vinayaka was married.
Answer 3- The names of lord Vinayaka's wives are Riddhi and Siddhi.
Answer 4- Not Applicable as he was married.
Answer 5- His favourite dish is Modaka.
Answer 6- Parshuram punched on the head of lord Vinayaka.
Answer 7- Lord Kartikeya is the brother of lord Vinayaka.
Answer 8- Lord Vinayaka was using Mouse as his vehicle.
Answer 9- Lord Vinayaka lost his one tusk in fight which he had with Parshurama.
Answer 10- As per mythology lord Vinayaka have the head of Elephant. We all know that how elephant love to be in water. This could be the reason behind this.

A: Once Parshuram went to Kailash Mountain to visit his teacher, Lord Shiva. But, Bal Ganesha obstructed his path which led into fight. Parshuram became angry and threw the 'Parashu/Farsa' which was presented to him by Lord Shiva. To show the respect to the weapon given by his father, Lord Ganesha did not get out of the way, which hit his tusk and it broke down. And from that day, Lord Vinayak is also known as 'Ekdanta'.
10. Why do we find most of the Vinayaka temples situated in the river banks and water borne areas?
A: Almost every city or place in India have a bond, lake or is situated at the bank of river. After the celebration of Ganesha Chaturthi for 10 days, it is a ritual to submerge the statue in the water. The reason to do so is the belief that Lord Ganesha returns back to his adobe i.e. Mount Kailash and takes away all the misfortunes along with him to provide peaceful life to his devotees. And, therefore, Lord Ganesha is also called Vighnaharta.

You all have answered the questions thoroughly well. yet there are some confusing questions to be clarified and understood well by the members.
1.Who is lord Vinayaka? I agree with the answers that he is the son on Siva and Parvathi
2.Is lord Vinayaka a bachelor or married? yes. As per northern India he is married, and according to south he is still a bachelor Lord.
3. If married, who is/are his wive/wives?. In North he has two wives called rudhi and sidhi. In south too they are Puthi and Sithi.
4. If not married, why is he not married? In south India he is not married, he is a bachelor still seeking a bride who should have the qualities of his mother Paarvathi.
5. What is the favourite dish liked by lord Vinayaka? Yes. Modhakam or Modak. In Tamil we call it as "Kolukattai"
6. Who is the saint who punched on the head of lord Vinayaka? Most members responded as "Parasurama". I want the details as and when and why parasurama punched on the head of Vinayaka. According to southern stories, the short saint "Agatiya" punched vinayaka unknowingly when Vinayaka in the form of a crow kicked off the "Kamandal" to in which Agatiya stored the river "Ponni" for her proudy nature. Ponni is present river Kaveri.

9. Why one of the tusk/teeth of Vinayaka is broken? Give reason. There are different versions from members. Some says to write Mahabharatha. some says that Parsurama broke it. Needs to be clarified.

Answers from members are different. according to south, Lord Vinayaka placed himself in a waterborne area to look at the girls and select a girl for marriage.He is still looking for a girl to match his lovely mother. Because waterborne areas are the places visited by spinster girls to bath everyday without fail.
