Some common mistakes we often commit |

In this thread I am going to point out some common mistakes we often commit repeatedly. People, media, criteria, equipment, information are some of the important words which are frequently used in our writings. The mistakes have been made in the following ways:
1. All the peoples are present in the meeting. (wrong)
2. What criterias are used to measure the talent of students. (wrong)
3. You have to buy all the equipments to complete the job. (wrong)
4. I need all the relevant informations to investigate properly. (wrong)
5. Nowadays medias are doing great job. (wrong)
Correct answers:
1. All the people are present in the meeting. No need to add 's' as people is a plural word.
2. What criteria are used to measure the talent of students. No need to add 's' because criteria is a plural word.
3. You have to buy all the equipment to complete the job. No need to add 's' as equipment is a plural word.
4. I need all the relevant information to investigate properly. No need to add 's' as information itself is a plural word.
5. Nowadays media is or are doing great job. No need to add 's' as media is a plural word. It can also be used as singular number.
We have to be aware of these kind of silly mistakes so that these are not repeated in our writings.

Good post I think there are many words in english which are confusing so we can see people making these simple mistakes. Like Peoples where s should not be there as people is plural but how many think this before using.

It is definitely a good thread where the importance of English and the Grammar has been stated. I too have found many who has been using such mistakes while forming some sentences. Though it is a very small mistake it has to be taken care in order to improve ourself. Thank you for your good efforts my friends.
