Padmasambhava Mahavihara monastery, Gajapati, Odisha

The Padmasambhava Mahavihara monastery at Chandragiri was first established by the then Chief-Minister of Odisha Biju Patnaik in 1959 due to Chinese aggression. He’s chosen this place for the Tibetan refugees to stay here. Later the Monastery building foundation stone was laid by Dalai Lama in 2003 and inaugurated in January 2010. The place attracts lot of national and international tourists every year; particularly Buddhist pilgrims come here every year during winter and do their business in throughout the state Odisha.
