    About Mysore

    The city of palaces, a traditional heritage and a carnival of this city is awesome, which still maintains a quaint charm, is in the southern part of Deccan plateau, this city is situated 770 meters above the sea level and having a distance of 140 km from the capital city of the state, Bangalore.

    History of Mysore

    The history of Mysore has shown the appearance of Ganga dynasty in the 2nd century and they might have ruled till 1004, next dynasty ruled this place were Cholas, according to historians they have ruled over a century. Later they were followed by Chalukyas and Hoysalas, the excavation by the Archeological Department has proved with the inscriptions belongs to 11th and 12th centuries, which can be considered as a clue for these happenings.

    The city of Mysore were under the control of Britishers, and to represent them a king was appointed, Prince Krishnaraja Wodeyar made this city as his capital, and it was the time the beginning of the growth this city has seen, next Chamarajendra Wodeyar ruled this place for over 13 years.

    Population of Mysore

    The total population of Mysore City is 10.3 lakhs, out of which 5,29,531 are males and the remaining 5,08,959 are females according 2001 Census, the sex ration here is 965 females per 1000 males, the most of them urbanites are literates.

    This city has seen a rapid growth in the population in recent years because of the inflow has been increased due to the industrialization of this city and more over it is one the important tourist hub in the country.
