Cuttack city is also know as "silver city". It is a one of the very old city of India.It is surrounded by two rivers in triangle shape namely 'river Mahanadi' and 'river Kathjodi'. Cuttack is a cultural and main commercial capital of Orissa. Being Cuttack is more than thousand years of old it is also as "Millennium City". Cuttack is very much famous for its silk and cotton cloths because of it, Cuttack is consider as Grand Showroom of Orissa. In early time in history Cuttack was under Keshri Dynasty(989 AD).
Oriya, Hindi,English and Telugu are the languages spoken by the people. The dresses worn by people of cuttack are somehow little sophisticated.
The chief food of Cuttack is Rice and here people love to take breakfast at Dhabas, Hotels.
A part of Cuttack namely as Sikharpur is well known for its safety or quite zone which is mostly unaffected by riots.
Special features......... Oriya film industry has its base at Cuttack only and also maximum episodes or part of serials and film are shoot here.
Also Orissa Police headquarter is situated here only.
Cuttack High Court is also present near the Kathjodi river.
A very famous Stadiums are "Barbati Stadium", "Satyabrath Stamdium" and "Indoor Stadium" situated in cantonment road of Cuttack.
Cuttack is very much for its Educational Institutes namely "Ravenshaw University(is a college where our freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose studied)", "Christ college", "Stewart Science College", Netaji Subhosh Chandra Bose City College", "Cuttack College", "Jatiya Kabi Bira Kishorh College"(The name of this college is a very well known Poet and also he was a loved by our oriya people.
Some school are Cambridge School St. Joseph Girls High School, a very old school in Cuttack is Ravenshaw Collegate School in which Our Netaji had studied.
There are many Cinema halls are "Rasta Rangin","Biradhaban", "Durga", "Nishamani", "Jayshree", "Samrat", "Grand" and "Hind".
Cuttack is also famous for its natural beauty as from the west it is surrounded by hills. Cuttack and Bhubaneswar jointly named as " Twine City". Lastly I shall say to every Indian who have planned to come Cuttack are whole heartily are welcome.

Cuttack is one of the oldest and the ancient cities of India , said to be more than a 1000 years old, because of which it is also known as the millenium city.
Location of Cuttack Cuttack is located at 20°30'N 85°50'E? / ?20.5°N 85.83°E? / 20.5; 85.83.The city has an average elevation of 37 metres (120 ft) and is located at the apex of delta formed by the rivers Mahanadi in the north and Kathajodi in the south Since the city is bordered on three sides by the rivers Mahanadi in the north and Kathajodi in the south has hindered the growth of th city. Cuttack has a population of 23,41,094 as per the census details of 2001.
History of Cuttack For more than 10 centuries Cuttack has been the capital of the area, when it started to burst around its seams, a new city was built just 20 kilometers away, Bhubaneswar. These two cities are also known as twin cities of Orissa. Cuttack was supposed to be established as a military cantonment by king Nrupa Keshari of Keshari dynasty in 989 A.D basing on the reports from Madala Panji, a chronicle of Jagannath temple of Puri. After changing hands from dynasty to Dynastyu Cuttack came under Marathasin 1750 and there began the growth of the city as the business center as a point of contact between the Marathas of Nagpur and the English Merchants of Bengal. The British occupied Cuttack in 1803 and the city became the capital of the Orissa division in 1816. After India attained independence Bhubaneswar became the capital but the administration stayed on at Cuttack. The city is referred to as a city with Babaan Bazaar, Teppan Galee meaning a city having 52 markets and 53 streets.
Paramahansa Nath Temple, situated near Biribati, is the highest temple at about 14 kilometers from the town. The famous Katak Chandi Temple is an ancient temple the presiding deity being the Goddess Chandi . This temple is situated on the banks of the River Kathjodi and well known for the Durga Puja and the Kalipuja festivals. She is celebrated not only as Katak Chandi, she is also known as Bhubaneswari and the people believe that she is a living goddess.
Bhattarika Temple situated in the sasanga village,baramba, Athgarh, Cuttack District is dedicated to Goddess Maa Bhattarika who is considered to be an incarnation of Goddess Durga. The temple is situated at the banks of the river Mahanadi.
Culinary Delight of Cuttack "Dahibara Aludum", is a spicy concoction of three basic dishes namely , "dahibara" - vadas soaked in skim yoghurt, "ghuguni' - curried chickpeas and "aloo dum" - whole and small sized potatoes immersed in fiery curry. all three of these dishes are the basic ones used in this concoction and is said to be one of the specialities of Orissa.
