The Cuddalore district is surrounded by Villupuram in north, Bay of Bengal sea in east, Perumbur district in west and Nagapattinam in South side. The district has an area of 3,564 km². In Cuddalore District, there are 6 taluks, 13 Blocks, 5 Municipalities and 16 Town Panchayats. As of 2001 census, the population of this district has 2,285,395 people. The cuddalore district is formed in the year 1993. Before that, it was merged with South Arcot district with several cities.
Tourist Places :
The famous temple of Chidambaram Natarajar temple is situated in this district. This temple is famous for dance. This city is located 43 km away from Cuddalore. Whoever is completed "Bharatha Nattiyam" (one of the dancing in Indian culture), they can do the "Arangrattam" in this temple only. Because, the lord in this temple is "Natarajar" who is lord for dance.
One another tourist place is "Pichavaram". Its a longest Mangrove Forest. Boating facility available to see the forest.
Business :
The fishing is a good business from this distict.
