It is the administrative district.The district head quarters is located at Ongole.
It comes under the costal region of Andhra Pradesh. This is one of the prominent district and most developed districts of the area.
It is a very fertile district and most of the people are into agriculture, Aqua Farming and cashew nut exporting. This place is famous for its sea food.
This is also a educational center and over the years many new engineering colleges and medical colleges have been cropped up. The government has given adequate funds to develop this district.
Coming to the political history of this district Ongole is the only parliamentary constituency. It has 13 assembly constituencies.This District consists of 13 Towns, 56 Mandals and 42 Villages approximately as per the survey.
Chimakurthi is famous for granite and Dornala is known as diguva Srisailam, since it is very near the historic pilgrimage of Srisailam.
