|Darjeeling district is located at the northern part of West Bengal. The district consists of hilly terrain (Darjeeling, Kurseong and Kalimpong) and plain land (Siliguri). Tourism Darjeeling town is known as the ‘Queen of the Hills’. The main tourist spots in and around the city are Tiger Hill, Raj Bhawan, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Chowrasta, Zoo,logical Park, Rock Garden, Ganga Maya Park, Japanese peace pagoda, Botanical garden (oldest in India), Observatory Hill and Mahakal temple, Dhimdham temple and Happy Valley tea garden. Kalimpong is another famous hill station. Dr. Grham’s Homes School, Durpindra, Gouripur House, Kalibari, Thongsa Gumpa, Flower Nurseries, 7th Mile view point, Pedon Monastry, etc. are important tourst spots. Kurseong is the third famous hill station in the district. The Lake, Kawlay Dara, Deosi Dara, Cardamom grove, Singha Devi Mandir are important tourist spots of the town.

Transport The nearest airport is Bagdogra, which is at a distance of 59 Kilometer from Darjeeling town. The important railway junction is New Jalpaiguri (NJP), which is very near to Siliguri.
Darjeeling Himalayan Railway is the first and still the most beautiful example of hill passenger railway. It started in 1881 and the tourists are marveled by the examples of the ingenious engineering solutions and resplendent natural beauty during the journey through this narrow-gauge railway route.
Darjeeling Tea Darjeeling Tea is world-famous for its taste and smell. It is exported world-wide. In the district, here are 144 tea- gardens. The tea plantation is restricted to Darjeeling and Kurseong sub-divisions of the district. Tea-tourism is becoming popular nowadays.
