| Author: Manish Jain 26 Nov 2009 Member Level: Gold Points: 25 (Rs 15) | About Anand The Anand district was established in the year 1997 when it was carved out of the Kheda District of Gujarat in the western part.The district has many special features in it.It has 10 talukas lie Anand, Petlad, Borsad, Anklav, Khanbhat etc. Anand is the administrative head of the district.The district is covered from all the sides by Kheda, Vadodara,Ahmedabad and Gulf of Cambay.
The district population is about 1,856,872 of which 27.36% were urban as of 2001.The Major towns are Khambhat, Tarapur, Petlad and Sojitra, Anand, etc.The average literacy rate among the district people is more than 57% and most importantly the sex ratio of the district is also as good as that of the country i.e 910 girls per thousand boys.

Interesting Facts Anand district is situated in the southern part of gujarat near the Gulf of Cambay. The district has very good industrial area as it is very much near to the Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara and Bharuch districtwhich are already the Business hubs in the state. Amul( Anand Milk Union Limited), which has a capacity of 6.5 million litres (2006-07)in a day, is the largest dairy of India. Anand is an industrial base for Chemical, Engineering and Food & Agriculture products. Agriculture products produced in the Anand district are banana(third largest in the state), papaya, potato, mango, onion and cabbage.
