Nagpur has the third largest population in Maharashtra, with more than 17 lakh voters in this constituency. The large number of Dalit votes decide the outcome of the elections.

2004 Election Result:
Vilas Muttemwar (Congress) won by over 37 lakh votes
Interesting Information about Nagpur:

Nagpur constituency:
Nagpur is second capital of Maharashtra State. It has heavy rains during rainy season, too cold during winter and hotest temperature during summer. It is also known as Orange City. There are many artificial lakes developed by British government. The main attraction is Zero mile point, which is the centre of the nation. CARGO Hub and MIHAN are the two highly reputed government projects, which will enrich the development of the city.
As per 2009 LS election reports, there are 1,737,762 voters out of which 839,426 are women. Average votes polled in 15th Loksabha elections were 43.48%
Vilas Muttemwar:
Vilas Muttemwar, who is the well known politician of the city, belongs to Congress. There was EC raid on his Janvad press office to find the cash. District Expenditure Monitoring Committee (DEMC) had found a difference of Rs. 76,253 in the details submitted by Mr. Muttemwar. Vilas Muttemwar is the sitting MP of 15th parliament.
Nitin Gadkari:
Nitin Gadkari is the BJP candidate for Nagpur Loksabha constituency. He is very well known BJP politician through out the nation. DEMC found a difference of Rs. 520,272 in the details of Mr. Gadkari in the poll expenses.
Anjali Damania:
Anjali Damania is an AAP candidate to fight against the corruption done by old political parties. DEMC highlighted the difference of Rs. 123,681 in the details of poll expenses filed by her.
BSP candidate had filed details of poll expenses with the difference of Rs. 81,371.
