An over view of Kushi Nagar Constituency
Kushi Nagar is one of the 80 parliamentary constituencies in Uttar Pradesh. Padrauna, which is situated on the bank of the river Bansi is the administrative head quarter of Kushi nagar district. The Kushi Nagar Lok Sabha Constituency consists of 14,38,263 number of electorates, of these 6,58,901 are females and 7,79,362 are males. The literacy percentage is at 75%

Performance of parties in earlier elections:
This constituency is formed consequent on the delimitation of constituencies in 2008. It went for polls for the first time in 2009. Congress won the election. Its candidate R P N Singh defeated the nearest BSP rival with a margin of 21000 votes. RPN Singh is the Union Minister of state for Home in Manmohan Singh’s cabinet.
At elections 2014
RPN Singh, Union Minster and a close aide of Rahul Gandhi is the sitting MP. He is again contesting the election. Born in 1964, Singh has credentials of sincerity and devotion to his job. He attended to the local issues and utilized the MP funds for the benefit of the citizens of his constituency. He has a slight edge over others in the election but the anti-incumbency factor that is surfacing on UPA Government may affect his prospects.
Samajwadi Party also fielded its former MLA Radhe Shyam Singh. Rajesh Pandey is the BJP candidate and relying on their star campaigner Narendra Modi. His big rally at Kushinagar has drawn huge crowd. The BJP is expecting some positive result in UP this time. Akhand, Social activist and member of the Anna team is the AAP nominee. S P Maurya was the BSP candidate in 2009 elections and they nominate Dr.Sangham Misra to fight the election. BSP has a strong vote bank in this region and likely to give a serious fight.
The constituency is going for polls on 12th May 2014 and result would be declared on 16th May 2014.
