English writing tips

It is very important to use proper English when you post content in any section of this website. Even if you are not an expert in English, you can still follow the below guidelines.

There are certain sections in this website were posts are expected to be of very high level English. However, in most of the regular sections, we understand that our visitors are not from an English speaking country and we will excuse the grammatical errors to an extent.

Proper English usage guidelines

Posts that do not follow below guidelines may be rejected in all sections of this website.

  • You must check the spelling using some tools, before you submit content. If you are using the FireFox or Google Chrome browsers, automatic spell check is built in to the browsers and it will highlight the words with wrong spelling.

  • Always start the first letter of a sentence with capital letter.

  • Never write the full sentence or words in capital letters.

  • Do not use any chat code words in the content (like 'were are u ?', 'Ask b4 you enter' etc

  • Always use a blank space at the end of a sentence and before the next sentence. Each sentence in a paragraph must be separated by a blank space after the period.

  • Use proper punctuations wherever necessary. Most sentences should have a period (full stop) at the end, unless it is ending with another punctuation character. Use exclamation only if you are really excited about what you just wrote. Use commas to indicate a partial stop.

  • Avoid using repeated characters like !!! ........ etc. Use special characters only when necessary and do not repeat it more than once.

  • Use short and meaningful sentences.

  • Read the whole content one or more times before you submit. Make corrections if necessary. Read again if you had to correct anything.

  • Write it simple. Do not try to use all the words that you know and heard of.

  • Separate your content into paragraphs. Typically, a paragraph should be 3 to 10 sentences.
