SECTION-A (10 × 2 = 20 Marks)
1. (a) What is the relation between Mean, Median and Mode ? (b) What is Binomial Distribution ? Discuss its features. (c) What are the limitations of Index numbers ? (d) Differentiate between Arithmetic Progression and Geometric Progression. (e) What are the merits of diagrammatic representation of statistical Data ? (f) Differentiate between Mean Deviation and Standard Deviation. (g) Differentiate between Correlation and Regression. (h) Define Coefficient of Variation. (i) Discuss the classical ap proach of probability. (j) Discuss the properties of Normal Distribution.
SECTION-B (4 × 10 = 40 Marks) 2. (a) Define Standard Deviation. Discuss its properties. (b) In two factories A and B, engaged in the same industry in the area, the average week wages in rupees and the S.D. are as follows : Factory Average S.D. 3. In a genetic survey, the data of height of fathers (in cms) and height of sons (in cms) were collected. Data are as follows : Father 165 166 167 167 168 169 171 173 170 166 Son 167 168 164 168 171 170 169 170 169 165 Find the two lines of regression. Calculate correlation coefficient and expect the average height of son when the height of father is 168.2 cms.

5. (a) State the different methods used for diagrammatic representation of statistical data and indicate briefly the advantages and disadvantages of each one of them. (b) In the frequency distribution of 100 families given below, the number of families corresponding to expenditure groups 20-40 and 60-80 are missing from the table. 7. (a) What do you mean by probability? Discuss the Laws of probability? (b) A salesman is known to sell a product in 3 out of 5 attempts while another salesman in 2 out of 5 attempts. Find the probability that (i) No sale will take place when they both try to sell the product (ii) Either of them will succeed in selling the product.
