Entrance exams for post graduation

This resource describes the exams that are available for a student after the completion of graduate study.



Hello everyone,

There are a lot of people who really get confused whether to choose job or education after the graduate study in India.If they opt to continue in the study field they feel confused and depressed in choosing the field.
This resource here describes the fields after graduate education for engineers to pursue their fields in post graduation.
There are many courses in engineering field.Starting from computers, electronics, electrical, mechanical, civil,instrumentation the list goes on.
Fields available:

Master of Science:


This is a very open and a competitive field for engineers where they need to pursue their education in the field they choose.Master of science is a field wherein one gets the indepth knowledge of the subject he choose to study.
For computers field there are numerous courses available.Networking, operating systems, computer architecture, data warehousing, software engineering, software project management are the courses to list a few.
For electronics also there are a plenty of fields.VLSI, embedded systems. inter networking, tele communications are few such fields.

Qualification for Master of Science:


Persons having a bachelor's degree of 4 years are eligible for this program.
Exams like GRE, TOEFL, IELTS are to be written.
GRE:
Graduate Record Examination(GRE) is an exam where the student is tested with his verbal and quantitative abilities. These 2 sections assess the persons ability to respond within the time available.

Quantitative section includes questions related to mathematics in fields like Algebra, Geometry, data interpretation and etc.28 questions will be posed and are evaluated on a scale of 800.
Verbal section includes testing of verbal ability in the field of english.Test includes questions based on antonyms, sentence completion, analogies and reading comprehensions abbreviated as RCs. This is also evaluated on a scale of 800.
It is a computer adaptive test(CAT) with a total marks of 1600.Getting a score of 100 out of 1600 is appreciable.This test is valid for 5 years.

TOEFL:
Test Of English as Foreign Language(TOEFL) is a field where the student is tested only his English ability.TOEFL is a mandatory entrance exam to get admission in various university and colleges, particularly in USA.TOEFL scores are for people whose native language is not English. Among all international English language exams, TOEFL is the best-known exam.
a)Reading
b)Listening
c)Speaking
d)Writing
are the sections in the ibt TOEFL exam.
Questions related to these sections test the ability of the person.Each section carries a score of 30 summing up to 120 in total.
It is not a computer adaptive test.Getting a score of 79 out of 120 is appreciable.This test is valid for 2 years.

IELTS:
IELTS acronymed as International English Language Testing System, is an international standardized test for English language proficiency. IELTS today is recognised in many countries.
This exam as TOEFL includes Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.The test is evaluated on a band score of 9, which is shown on an the IELTS Test Report Form (TRF). All examinees take the same Listening and Speaking Modules, but the Reading and Writing Modules differ.
The total test duration is around 2 hours and 45 minutes.Getting a band of 6 is appreciable.

MBA(Masters of Business Administration):


GMAT:
The GMAT stands for Graduate Management Admission Test. It is administered by Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC).Admisions in business schools for admission to U.S., Canadian, and European business school MBA programs require this exam.
GMAT exam asks questions in the fields of verbal, mathematical, and analytical writing skills.The examinee has to use his skills that he has procured over a period of time in his studies. Test takers answer questions in each of the three tested areas, and there are also two optional breaks.The test takes about four hours to complete and is valid for 5 years.

These are the exams that have to be taken to obtain masters degree in a foreign country in general.

Hi,

Thanks Mr.Teja Swaroop for your valuable advice. This article has really helped me a lot. I was actually browsing the net for some good content regarding GRE and TOEFL and found your article.

This article really helped me in understand the basic requirements.All the exam details have been clearly stated and I even found some of your articles speaking about the preparation overview.

What I still do not understand is, should I go for GRE and TOEFL or GRE and IELTS? which combination is better and has a good scope. Kindly reply me as soon as possible.
