The recipe of a tasty and nutritious vegetarian sweet which can be prepared using beetroot is given here.

Beetroot is a source of sodium, pottassium, phosphorus iron and copper. It is rich in antioxidants. Beetroot is used as a blood building food. It is rich in Vitamin B and C. It reduces high blood pressure. Still most of us are reluctant to eat dishes made of beetroot. This is good for vegetarians and non vegetarians.

Here I am giving a recipe of making halwa with beetroot. It is easy to prepare, nutritious and delicious. Try this one out and the kids would love it.

Ingrediants

Beetroot : 3 medium sized
Ghee: 4 tablespoons
Sugar: To taste
Milk : 2 glass
Raisins
Cashew nuts
Almonds

Preparation

Cook the beetroot in milk. When it is cooked, add sugar. Wait for a few minutes and add ghee to it. Stir for some time. The color turns dark. When it is done, add the roasted cashew nuts, raisins, almonds and cardamom. Take a vessel and rub ghee over it. Now take the halwa in this vessel and set it. Cut into desired shape when it is cool and serve.

The recipe for beetroot halwa looks very interesting and i am eager to try it out as well. There is just one thing that I want to ask & that is whether beetroot has to be shredded , chopped or grated before cooking with milk ?

nitst,

Thank you for pointing out. I forgot to add that the beetroot has to be grated. This is very easy to prepare and good for health as well. Do try it.
