PGDC Common Entrance Test (CET)-2010
Who can apply: The candidates who have obtained B.E./B.Sc. (Engineering) AMIE or equivalent degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Control and Instrumentation/Power Engineering are eligible to apply for admission to this Post Graduate diploma course. Those appearing in their final year examination may also apply. However, they must submit their result at the time of counseling.
Graduate engineers sponsored by state electricity boards/power utilities and private companies with at least one year post qualification experience as on 1.8.2010 and minimum 60% marks in BE/B.Tech/equivalent degree.
Selection criteria for admission: The admission to this PG Diploma will be done by NPTI Nagpur on the basis of merit based on common entrance test (CET) followed by counseling at NPTI Nagpur
CET will be held on 20.06.2010 at 8 centres i.e. Delhi, Nagpur, Bangalore, Durgapur, Faridabad, Guwahati, Nangal and Neyveli
A candidate who is allotted a seat during counseling will be required to pay the 1st installment of fee (Rs 30,000/- for non sponsored candidate and Rs 40,000/- for sponsored candidate) immediately without which the admission will not be confirmed. The payment of fees is only through demand draft in favour of NPTI Nagpur. No other mode of payment is acceptable.
Common entrance test (CET): The duration of CET will be 150 minutes. The question paper will consist of multiple-choice objective questions. Each correct answer will be worth two (2) marks. Incorrect answer will result in negative marking worth half (1/2) a mark.
Age limit: For the non sponsored candidates maximum age limit as on 31.08.2010 is 30 years. However, there is no age limit for the sponsored candidates. Relaxation to the reserved category candidate is as per govt of India norms.
Preference of institute for the course: Allocation of Institute will be done on the basis of merit list based on marks obtained by the candidates in CET at the time of counseling and the preference given by candidate; NPTI-NR, Badarpur (New Delhi); NPTI-ER Durgapur (West Bengal); NPTI-NER Guwahati (Assam); NPTI-SR Neyveli (Tamil Nadu); NPTI-WR Nagpur (Maharastra); HPTI- Nangal (Punjab)
Counseling: Counselling will be held at NPTI (WR), South Ambazari Road, opposite to VNIT, Gopal Nagar, Nagpur-440022, between 19.07.10 to 21.07.10. The candidate must appear in person at the counseling date along with all relevant original documents including caste certificate (if applicable), date of birth certificate, educational qualifications and sponsorship letter (if sponsored)etc. The sponsored candidates will have to bring an undertaking on non judicial stamp paper worth Rs 10/- along with a photocopy of the same at the time of counseling.
How to apply: Applications are to be filled online from our website www.nptinagpur.com or www.npti.in. The registration fee is Rs 800/- to be paid in the form of demand draft drawn in favour of NPTI Nagpur payable at Nagpur and the details of the demand draft to be given while filling online application. Each applicant will be given a unique ID on successful registration at site. This ID must be preserved for future references. One registration hardcopy along with the attested photocopies of following certificates, three passport size photographs (with name and ID written on backside) along with the demand draft should be sent to the Principal Director, National Power Training Institute (WR), South Ambazari Road, Gopal Nagar, Nagpur-440022 latest by 10.05.2010
After scoring successful marks in the common entrance test (CET-2010) based on certain cut off percentage, the list of selected students shall be displayed on websites. These candidates should attend the counseling so as to get admission in their respective choice of institute depending on the availability. The information regarding the counseling and admission shall be available on websites www.nptinagpur.com and www.npti.in after 02.07.2010.
Common entrance test-2010 (CET-2010): The selection to the course on Post Graduate Diploma in Thermal Power Plant Engineering shall be based on a common entrance test (CET) comprising 180 objective type questions to be answered in a duration of 2½ hours (150 minutes). The proposed date for the common entrance test is 20.06.2010, 11 a.m. The test shall be conducted at eight (8) centers of NPTI though out India viz. Faridabad; Badarpur, New Delhi; Nagpur; Durgapur; Bangalore; Guwhati; Nangal (Punjab) and Neyveli. No TA/DA shall be provided for attending test/counseling and the candidates have to make their own arrangements of their stay.
The common entrance test shall test the basic aptitude, engineering aspects and the subject knowledge of individuals. The questions are to be answered on the OMR sheets provided. Negative marking is also done to avoid random marking. Each of the marked correct answer shall be rewarded two (2) marks and a wrong marking shall be penalised by (-1/2) marks.
