India Aadhaar Project is the new name of project which is started by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to assign the Unique Identification Number (UID) to the Indian citizens. Aadhaar identification id is 16-digit identification (ID).

To get Aadhaar identification id following steps should be taken by the resident itself as it is a voluntary program but it is assure that certain service providers may require a person to have a UID to deliver services in near future so it is good to haveAadhaar identification id

Steps followed to get Aadhaar identification id

1. A resident or applicant will have to go to an enrolling agency, where he or she has to fill up an application form and provide the supporting documentation.

2. After getting the required data enrolling agency will collect this information and send the data, to the registrar who will pass this on to the UID database.

3. Here it is undergoes de-duplication exercise and if the applicant is not registered in data previously than a Aadhaar identification id number will be issued and sent to the person at their residence copy of this number is also send to the registrar for further use.

4. The registrar will scan the supporting documentation and send it to the UIDAI and keep the physical copies with themselves.

Resident must have to submit the following information for getting Aadhaar identification id
1.Name
2.Date of birth
3.Gender
4.Father's/Husband's/ Guardian's name and UID number (optional for adult residents)
5.Mother's/ Wife's/ Guardian's name and UID number (optional for adult residents)
6.Introducer's name and UID number (in case of lack of documents)
7.Address
8.All ten fingerprints, photograph and both iris scans
