After globalization the aspects of leadership have changed. The way we deal with the customers or our employees have become more challenging these days. In order to survive in the market the organizations and managers need to change their ways of leading people.

After globalization the aspects of leadership have changed. The way we deal with the customers or our employees have become more challenging these days.
In order to survive in the market the organizations and managers need to change their ways of leading people.
Earlier people just used to come to office, did their job and went back home. However in today's day and age apart from doing the assigned job consistent improvement is also required on how you are doing you job.

One myth is very common that leadership is a born attribute and leaders can't be made, they are born.

As per Dwight D. Eisenhower "Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it"

There are many types of leaders we see in our day to day life. You have political parties and leaders there, leaders in Army, Spiritual leaders, leaders in sports, leaders in organizations and businesses.

There are leaders and Managers. There is always a difference between leading and Managing. For example leading is to do right things and managing is to do things right.
Leading involves people development and managing involves management of the entire process in an organizations.

In today's scenario changes are required both in Leading and Managing. Effecting leading and managing lead to happy customers

Role of a Leader
Leader gives directions to people. Where they need to go and what they are expected to do
Leaders have a vision for his members. He wants and inspires them to succeed. He tells them about their goals and how to achieve them

Leaders effectively communicate with people about the importance of any task, how to do it and what are the benefits.

He provides the desired coaching and counselling and recognizes the efforts and good performance.

There are many ways you can develop your leadership skills

Make a habit of reading. Read newspapers, books, magazines and articles. This helps in developing your communication skills as well as leadership skills. Read about the great leaders and read about their experiences.

You can also enroll in self development courses from a reputed institute

"Practice makes a man perfect" is very true. So practice hard and you will achieve excellence.

Discuss the things and ask questions from your seniors or people working under you. This always help in knowing people which further helps in getting support from them.

To become an effective and good leader you should be able to perform the following activities

1. Effective communication: The right information need to be passed to the colleagues. For this you need to communicate effectively and transmit your message properly otherwise the message could be interpreted wrongly by the receivers. You need to speak clearly and in a language understandable to all. Need to have a positive body language with proper tone, pace and intonation while communicating. Eye contact is very important.
2. Understanding your people: It is not always work that you need to discuss with the people. You need to know about them, what are the things they are interested in, what are their hobbies, about their families. Once you understand them they will also try to help you out when you are in need and the deadlines are very hard.
3. Counselling and coaching: People want to learn new things and grow in life. Assist them understand their job, coach and counsel them towards quality and productive efforts.
4. Lead by example: Always be enthusiastic and energetic while on job. The team members always observe their leaders. Set an example. If the team see their leader smiling, cheerful, energetic and enthusiastic, they will also try to inculcate the same attributes.
