Search engines are the websites which are used to search information on the internet. What will do if you want to locate for a particular site or information but you don't have its web address. Search Engine helps you to locate for particular site for you to search the information. A search engine is a profram which searches through database of web pages for desired information. You have to type the words in the blank box of the search engine and click over Search button. Search engine will lock for the required information by taking few seconds. It will show you the results and you can select something of your inerest and you will gain access to the information or website which you wish to find.

Search engines helps you to access the desired information in two ways-by categories of informaqtion and by keywords. Some search engines group the whole information into different categories. These search engines are like libraries which divide the information on different subjacts into differnet categories. You starts your search by choosing and clicking the category that may contain the information you are looking for. You move from categories to sub-category an keep on entering the next sub-category until you get into the information that you are looking for. You may also search information with the help of keywords.Suppose by using google search engine you want to gather information on Mahatma Gandhi to prepare an assignment First of all you connect your computer to inertnet and starts internet explorer. Type www.google.co.in in the web address box and press the enter button on your keyboard and type Mahatma Gandhi in the search engine box and select web from amongst the options web, images, group, news, scholar, more seen above the search engine box and then choose the web from amongst the option the web and pages from india which are available below the search engine. Now click google search and the page containing information realting to Mahatma Gandhi available on different web pages of different websites will show up on your screen.
