IP-INTERNET protocal IT IS A 32-bit logical address which makes to communicate each other...


 

IP ADDRESSING
*IP-INTERNET PROTOCAL

*IP ADDRESS-:IT IS A 32-bit logical address which makes to communicate each other.it is used to define host and network uniquely on the network.

*two format of IP ADDRESS
1.IPv4 - 32-bit.
2.IPv6 - 64-bit

IP TERMINOLOGY

address space:- how many unique ip address provides and IP version..
TO calculate ADDRESS space formula is->

2^n (where n is no. of bit used in IP ADDRESS)

e.g.in 32-bit
2^32=4294967296


IP ADDRESS NOTATION
*How many way to define an IP ADDDRESS-:
1.binary notation.
2.decimal natation.
3.hexadecimal notation.
4.first value in binary.
5.first value in decimal.
6.last value in decimal.
7.last value in binary.

IP ADDRESS CLASSES

CLASS /RANGE /FORMAT /NO.OF NETWORKS /HOSTS/NETWORKS
class A /1-176 /N.H.H.H /2^7.2 /2^8.2

class B /128-191 /N.H.H.H /2^14.2 /2^16.2

class C /192-223 /N.H.H.H /2^21.2 /2^24.2

class D /224-239 /MULTICASTING /NA /NA

class E /340-354 /RESEARCH /NA /NA

NOTE-: 127.0.0.0 is reserved for loopback address.

IN IP ADDRESS each octet contain value range from 0-255
e.g. 192.168.1.1

How to find your IP Address?
Go to Start->Run and type cmd
In the command prompt, type ipconfig

Hi,

##1 IP v6 is not 64bit. Its 128bit. Please correct it.
##2 The format of the classes as as follows --

A => N.H.H.H
B => N.N.H.H
C => N.N.N.H
