Applications on prescribed form are invited for admission into MA, MSc, MCom, MCA, MLISC (First Semester) for the academic session 2010-2011 in the following subjects:

Master's Degree Course in Adult Education, Anthropology, Biochemistry, Chemistry,
Commerce, Computer Application, English, Earth Science, Economics, Education, Geography, Hindi, History, Library & Information Sciences, Life Science, Linguistics, Manipuri, Mathematics, Dance(Manipuri), Mass Communication, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science & Statistics.

Minimum Qualifications For Admission Into M.A., M.Sc., M.Com., M.C.A., M.L.I.Sc.

The University will admit students to 4 semester Programmes of Studies leading to Master's Degree (other than M.C.A.) from amongst those who have passed the B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. (Three-Year Degree Course) Examination or equivalent thereto under the 10+2+3 system and who studied the relevant subject for three years at the Degree level. The minimum (cut-off) marks except for ST/SC/PWD students for admission into the various courses are specified below.

A. SCHOOL OF HUMANITIES AND SCHOOL OF SOCIAL SCIENCES

45% marks in Honours/Major in the subject concerned in the University examination except in the case of Manipuri wherein it will be 40% marks in Manipuri (Hons /Elective/MIL) and 40% marks in the aggregate. or
45% marks both in aggregate and in the subject concerned in the University Examinations for candidates who do not have Honours/Major Provided that ,

(a) An Honours graduate may apply for admission into M.A./M.Sc. course in a subject which he/she offered as a subsidiary subject at the Degree examination. He/she however shall be treated as a candidate having no Honours/Major;

(b) For admission into M.A. Linguistics ; graduates in any discipline under the 10+2+3 system securing a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate and a graduate in a professional course securing a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply.

(c) For admission into M.A. Hindi ; a student who has passed B.A. (Three-Year Degree Course) and having Ratna or its equivalent Degree in Hindi may also apply.

(d) For admission into M.A. Philosophy ; candidates who have passed B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. Examination of the Manipur University or its equivalent examination from a recognized university with any subject combination are also eligible to apply provided they secure 45% marks in aggregate.

(e) For admission into Master of Library & Information Science (Two-Year Course); candidates with a Bachelor's Degree from Manipur University (Three-Year Degree Course) or a similar Degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply.

(f) For admission into M.A. Adult Education ; candidates with Bachelor's Degree (Three-Year Degree Course) from Manipur University or any other recognized university in any discipline with a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply.
(g) For admission into the M.A. in Mass Communication; candidates with Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from the Manipur University or any other recognized institution with a minimum of 50% marks are eligible to apply.

(h) For admission into M.A. in Dance (Manipuri); candidates with a 2
Bachelor's Degree in Dance (No cut off marks) of the Manipur 4University or any other recognized university or
candidates with a Bachelor's Degree (No cut off marks) of any recognized university with Diploma in Dance from an institution/academy fully funded by the State/Central Government are eligible to apply.
* The Manipur Institute of Management Studies conducts two-year M.B.A. Course. For admission into the M.B.A. course separate notification and prospectus shall be issued by the Institute.
** The Department of Biotechnology conducts five-year (integrated) Biotechnology Course. For admission into the B.P.Ed. course separate notification and prospectus will be issued by the Department.
*** The Department of Physical Education and Sports Science conducts four-year (integrated) B.P.Ed. course. For admission into the B.P.Ed. course separate notification and prospectus will be issued by the Department.

B. School Of Life Sciences/ School Of Human & Environmental Sciences/ School Of Mathematical And Physical Sciences

45% marks in the Honours/Major in the subject concerned in the Degree Examination or
50% marks in the aggregate and 50% marks in the subject concerned for candidates who do not have Honours/Major Provided that

(a) An Honours graduate may apply for admission into M.A./M.Sc. course in a subject which he/she offered as a subsidiary subject at the Degree examination. He/she however shall be treated as a candidate having no Honours/Major;

(b) A student who has passed B.Sc. (Three-Year Degree Course) Examination or equivalent thereto with Botany or Zoology is eligible to apply for admission into M.Sc. Life Sciences;

(c) A student who has passed B.Sc. (Three-Year Degree Course) Examination or equivalent thereto with Geology/Earth Sciences is eligible to apply for admission into M.Sc. Earth Sciences;

(d) For admission into M.Sc. Chemistry, the candidate (general) must have offered Physics or Mathematics as one of the Elective subjects in the B.Sc. Examination.

(e) For admission into MSc. Biochemistry, the candidate must have passed B.Sc. (Honours/Major) or equivalent examination in Biochemistry/Chemistry Or
B.Sc. (General) or equivalent examination with Chemistry and any two of the subjects: Biochemistry/ Botany/Zoology/ Microbiology/Genetics – with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate Or
B.Sc. (Honours/Major) or equivalent examination in Biotechnology/Botany/ Zoology/ Microbiology/ Chemistry.

(f) Candidates who have passed Mathematics as an Elective or subsidiary subject at the Degree level with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate are eligible to apply for admission into M.A./M.Sc. Statistics,


Master Of Computer Application

The University shall admit students to a Six-Semester Post-graduate programme of studies leading to the Master's degree in Computer Application. Eligibility criteria are as follows:

50% marks in aggregate in B.A./B.Sc./B.Com (Three-Year Degree Courses)/B.E./B.Tech. Such a candidate should have offered and passed Mathematics in the 10+2 examination
Or
50% marks in the aggregate in Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA)

No Cut-Off Marks For Sc/St/Pwd Candidates
SC/ST/PWD candidates who have passed the Degree examinations under the 10+2+3 system with the relevant subject/subjects may apply for admission into any of the Master's Degree programmes mentioned above.

How to Apply

(i) Prospectus along with application forms will be available at the University Cash Counter on payment of Rs. 200/- each.

(ii) Application form can be downloaded from the website of the Manipur University (www.manipuruniv.ac.in). In such case, the applicant has to enclose with the duly filled in application form a bank draft of Rs. 200/- drawn in favour of the Registrar, Manipur University, payable at SBI, MU Campus Branch (Code No.5320).

(iii) Duly filled in application forms (in duplicate) along with the relevant enclosures (also in duplicate) shall be submitted to the Head of the Department concerned.

(iv) Incomplete applications or applications received after the last date owing to postal delay or otherwise may be summarily rejected.

(v) A candidate who desires acknowledgement of the receipt of his/her application is advised to submit a stamped, self-addressed, postcard along with the application.

(vi) Application should be accompanied with Blood Group Certificate. This certificate may be obtained from the Department of Anthropology of the University on payment of Rs.50.00.

Last date of submission of completed application form for MA/ MSc/ MCom/ MCA/ MLISc

In continuation of the University notification of even number dated the 15th June, 2010, the last date of submission of applications for admission into MA/ MSc/ MCom/ MCA/ MLISc courses for the academic session 2010-11, has been extended upto 21st July, 2010.
