Hi,

IGCSE: International General Certificate of Secondary Education

Well today most of the parents are left out with wide options and are in dilemma which school to join and which board to choose for their children to provide quality education. With number of options left wide open like SSC, CBSE parents try to choose the old pattern like SSC or CBSE etc which are well established in our country over the years. Why not try different to provide your child the best education in the world? If you're looking to provide a quality education which is recognized throughout the world then go for IGCSE board.

History of IGCSE board:

IGCSE, formed in 1988, is a worldwide recognized class 10 course, over 100 countries which is similar to the class 10 exams of CBSE, SSC or ICSE boards. It is a two year comprehensive program for class 9 & 10 and final exams are conducted in the months of May and November every year.

Why to choose IGCSE Board?

There are many advantages in IGCSE board, like any member who passes this exam is eligible for +2 courses anywhere in the country similar to other boards. IGCSE offers wide range of practical knowledge which is not there in most of the boards, as other boards mainly concentrate on theoretical subjects which are of no great use.

Recognized by the Cambridge University, which will be of great use in future if the child wishes to do his higher education in foreign countries.

The IGCSE board provides quality education also focusing on oral drilling, assignment system, CGPA system and the grades are given on a scale of 8 point analysis.

Write from class 9 only they offer optional subjects and leave the choice for the students to choose their area of interest and emphasizing on those subjects and making them strong in the area of their interest, which is very useful for the child.

If we get a Grade C or above in the language test conducted by IGCSE board then the student need not take any English Proficiency Test and this facility is available only with the IGCSE board.

Course Curriculum in IGCSE Board:

Well IGCSE offers a wide range of courses with quality education and the marks in IGCSE are based on eight point grading system starting from A+ to G with A+ being the highest. A student is expected to have at-least Grade C in all subjects and such students are eligible for higher education.

Subjects in IGCSE Board:

IGCSE Board mainly consists of five groups of subjects and they are as follows:

Group 1: Languages (First Language, Second Language, Third Language or Any Foreign Language, etc)
Group 2: Humanities and Social Sciences (English Literature, History, Geography, etc)
Group 3: Science (Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Physics, etc)
Group 4: Mathematics (Algebra, Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Trigonometry, Geometry, etc)
Group 5: Creative, Technical & Vocational (Business Studies, Accounting, Computer Studies, Dance, Singing, Music, etc)

There is no such pass or fail but in order to obtain the certificate the student must obtain a minimum of Grade C in the selected subject from each group.

Advantage of IGCSE Board: There is one major advantage of this board which is not available with any other board. Most of you might be aware of the prestigious International Certificate of Education which is awarded by the Cambridge University, in order to obtain the International Certificate of Education (ICE) student need to take two more additional subjects apart from the subjects taken to obtain IGCSE certificate. Those two subjects are one more additional subject from the language group and one more subject from any of the other groups. This means the total seven subjects need to be taken in order to obtain ICE will be, two subjects from the language group, one subject from the remaining four groups each and one more subject from any of the five groups.

So rush up and try to join your child in IGCSE board and make use of the best facilities available over there.
