"KVPY" a step of Indian Government to encourage Science-students to be researchers:

India Government has a scheme of scholarship for the student of science stream. The scheme was introduced in 1999, by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India to encourage good students of science, who are willing to take scientific research as their carrier.

This scheme is named "KVPY" , it is the short form of "Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana".

Eligibility and Benefits:

Students of Class XI (science) who have secured considerable high marks in Science and Mathematics are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

On selection the students are granted a monthly stipend and a special grant is also given to meet contingencies.

There are also different streams for students of Basic science, Engineering and medicine to grant monthly stipend and annual grant. Certain streams require submission of approved scientific project.

The schemes are funded by the Government. The selections are conducted by Indian Institute of science Bangalore. Some training classes are held by the I.I.S, Bangalore with the association of I.I.T.s for the selected students to develop and judge their skills.

The 'KVPY' could be very helpful to the meritorious students of Science who have economical constraints and in general, can attract students to devote a scholar's talent for the country rather than for a company or firm.
