Here are three things that employment managers dislike in a resume.
1. Spelling and grammatical errors.
It might be very simple errors, but you may not be able to get away with them in in case of a very competitive positions. If you cannot produce an error-free document of about one or two pages that presents you to the world in your best light, then you’ve got problems. Mistakes in a resume go a long way to tell your prospective employer about your attention to detail or otherwise.
2. Interests and hobbies.
The origin of these in a resume can not be ascertained. It might be an attempt for some to present his or herself in a more perfect way. But a resume is not the place to do write such things as this can be covered in the interview.
Experienced employment managers have say, looking for someone who has a proven track record of managing successful IT projects, does not require what you do with your spare time.
3. Courtesy gimmicks. It is good to point something out at this juncture that the Wall Street Journal is probably one of the most visually unappealing publications in the history of the world. But it’s also one of the most respected. Why? Because the lack of screaming visual gimmicks implies that the content has some gravity. If you want to send your resume for employment let it be as simple as possible without too much side attractions that show your lack of qualifications for the position you are applying for.
