Fortune teller is the people who as a profession practices predicting the future of any individual, family or the country through mystical or supernatural means. Their purpose of telling fortune is usually for commercial gain. Fortune teller often blend their prediction with various religious practices. Fortune teller usually exploit the human curiosity to know about their future so that they can better prepare themselves to face the challenges that are likely to come into their lives. In Asian countries mostly in Indian and Chinese society, fortune telling is a respected and important part of social and business culture. Therefore, fortune teller often take on a role which is equivalent to management consultant and psychotherapists in Western society. As management consultants, they give advise to business people on business and investment decisions. Many major business decisions are often taken based on input given by fortune teller. Their social role therefore allows decision risk to be placed outside of the organization and provides a mechanism of quickly and randomly deciding between several equally useful options. As psychotherapists, they help people discuss and resolve personal issues without the stigma of illness.
Following are few of the methods fortune teller use for telling the fortune of a person by using Chinese and Western methods:
Face reading - Fortune teller interprets by analyzing the facial features of nose, eyes, mouth and other criteria within one's face and converts those criteria into predictions of the future. This prediction usually covers certain phase of one's life, and reveal the type of luck associated with certain age range.
Palm reading - It analyzes the various positioning of lines in the palm for love, personality and other traits.
Astronomy – In this method fortune teller prepares a birth chart based on the position of various major planets during date and time of birth of an individual. With the movement of planets the prediction of the future of the person is calculated.
Tarot Card reading – Here a pack of cards are used to predict the fortune of any individual or the country or virtually anything based on the questions asked.
Kau Cim - It requires the shaking of a bamboo cylinder, which results in at least one modified burnt stick leaving the cylinder. The Chinese characters are inscribed on the stick is analyzed by an interpreter. The prediction is short ranged as it covers one Chinese calendar year.
Zi wei dou shu - It is an interpretation of a pre-determined fate. The result of the details vary depend on the accuracy of the original four pillars information you provided. This method can also verify unique events that have already happened in one's life.
