Role of Earthworms in Eco- Friendly Agriculture

This is the information about Role of Earthworms in Eco- Friendly Agriculture, uses of Vermicompost and Natural fertilizer.

The earthworm play significant role in enhancing soil fertility and the advantages of vermicompost formed by earthworms gives excellent yield in Agriculture.

Earthworm helps in decomposition of agricultural, animal wastes and converts into vermicompost for use on crops. Vermicompost produced by Earthworm is a natural fertilizer, which is very cheap, eco friendly and effective to the plant growth.

Continuous use of vermicompost will reduce the cost of fertilizer application over synthetic fertilizer and will increase the soil fertility. Increased population of Earthworm in soil plays important role in decomposition of organic matter and mineralization of plant nutrients.

The microbes present in the vermicompost release gibberellins, Cytokinins and auxins the plant growth hormones due to metabolism. These growth hormones help in germination and also plant growth.

Hence vermicompost and the process of vermicomposting are good for eco - friendly agriculture food production.
