NIFT, the college of design, technology and management provides professional education in the field of fashion designing and garment industry. It has emerged as a premier training Institute in India to train professionals to meet the Human Resource Development requirements of the apparel industry. The collaboration of NIFT with National Institute of Design - Ahmedabad, Indian Institute of Leather Products - Madras, Central Leather Research Institute - Madras, Jute Manufacturers Development Corporation - Calcutta, Clothing Manufacturers Association of India - Mumbai and Tirupur Exporters Association - Tirupur are mutually beneficial to each other.
National Institute of Fashion Technology was set up in 1986 under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. The Institute is a pioneer in envisioning and evolving fashion business education in the country through a network of seven professionally managed centres at Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai.
NIFT offers various full time diploma, bachelors and masters programs. Entry to these programes are made through the entrance test conducted by the institute usually in the month of February/ March.

The +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognised Central/ State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi. or
General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level. or
Any Public School/ Board/ University Examination in India or in Foreign countries recognised by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system. or
A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects. or
3 or 4-years diploma recognised by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education

Eligibility

General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the advanced (A) level with Physics, Chemistry and Maths. or
Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognised by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system with Physics, Chemistry and Maths. or
A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects with Physics, Chemistry and Maths. or

Eligibility - B.E. / B.Tech. (Textiles / Apparel / Mechanical / Industrial / Production / Electronics / Computer / Information Technology)
Note : Candidates appearing for their qualifying examinations can also apply. Their admission, however, will be provisional and subject to obtaining the defined eligibility by the end of June at the year of admission. Proof of the candidates having successfully passed the qualifying examination will have to be produced at the time of joining the programme. In case, candidates do not produce the required documents, their admission will be cancelled and 50% of the tuition fee will be refunded.
