We all heard about the holy place Kanyakumari. I find no words to express the beauty of Kanyakumari.

Brief History of Vivekananda Rock:


Vivekananda Rock Memorial is a sacred monument and popular tourist attraction in Kanyakumari.
Location of Vivekananda Rock : Kanyakumari
Distance from the mainland : 500 meters.
Built in : 1970
In the honor of : Vivekananda (his maiden visit)
Year of his visit : December 1892
Mode of travel to the rock : Ferries plying between the rock and the mainland continuously from 7.30am to 4 pm (time changeable. )

Time taken to reach the rock : 10-15 minutes.
Entry fee for the ferry : Rs 20/- per head
Entry fee at the rock : Rs 10/- per head

A meditation hall is also constructed to sit and carryout meditation. This room is half lighted, pronouncing sound of om continuously. After coming out of the meditation hall everyone will feel cool (mentally) and calm.

This is a sun rise calendar at the Vivekananda rock. It shows the angle of sunrise in the direction of east.
This calendar is also one of the tourist attraction of the rock.


This is the entrance of the Vivekananda rock. After traveling 10 minutes by the boat finally you can set your foot in the sacred Vivekananda rock. Where you have to pay the entry fee of Rs 10/- per head.


This is not somewhere else, the ground you are seeing is the rock paved by the stone tiles. This is the area where we can spent the valuable time with our family and friends. You can see the waves coming from all the direction. This is the place where we can witness the merger of Indian ocean, Arabian sea and the bay of Bengal


Morning sunrise and the evening sunset are one the most tourist attractions in Kanyakumari. This is a wonderful sight, when all the tourists from the corner of the world assembled to witness the sunrise that is really nice.


The statue of Ayyan (saint) Thiruvalluvar is the most tourist attraction.

Name of the Statue : Ayyan Thiruvalluvar
Identity : His contribution in the tamil literature is immortal.
Contribution : He is the author of 'Thirukural' a collection of 1330 poems in 133 chapters, each chapter consisting of 10 poems .
Each poem is exactly 1¾ of a line. ( containing almost 7 words.). His poem is so condensed that If anyone try to elaborate these seven words than they find 100 pages in short. He included all events of one's life. Childhood, education, love, jealous, happiness and many more.


In his memory, the statue is of height 133 feet is erected by the chief minister Shri. Karunanidhi. On January 1, 2000 (Millenium year)

How to reach:
You can avail train or bus from any major city in Tamilnadu.
Time taken to reach approximately 12 hour from Chennai in express bus and almost equal time in train also.

Where to stay:
large no of hotels are there in kanyakumari.

Stay per night:
Rooms can be had from the minimum of Rs 400 per room onwards….

No of hotels available:
After reaching Kanyakumari you will be astonished to see that no of hotels is in numerous.
