Considering the high prices of fuel nowadays it would be wise to know several fuel saving tips for you vehicle. The minor things that you will learn if applied will surely add up to great savings along the way. Here are some tips to insure fuel efficiency of your vehicles. Engine performance – when the engine is at its peak performance, this will utilize minimum fuel usage. Have your engine check regularly. The spark plugs, air cleaners or filters should be change from time to time. Doing this will improve engine performance and help you save fuel. Tires – under inflated tires can create resistance and basically can cause vehicles to use more fuel. Not only that, it is also the leading cause of blowouts and tire failures. Properly inflated tires increases the life of your tires and improves safety as well as lesser fuel consumption. Air conditioning – when not necessary turn of your air conditioning. Air conditioning increases fuel consumption. Wheel Alignment – incorrect wheel alignment will result to drag and again more fuel consumption. This will also cause uneven tire wear and lessens the lifespan of your tires which would result to additional expenses. Manner of driving – Drive the vehicle at a steady speed. Sudden acceleration result to more fuel consumption. As much possible, reaching the top gear as soon as possible at a steady speed or by not forcing the engine labor to top gear is a great way to reduce fuel consumption. (The engine runs most efficiently around 1,500 to 2,500 rpm. Change up to the next gear as soon as practical) For automatic transmission, ease back slightly on the accelerator once the car gathers momentum, this will in effect smooth and quick shifting.)
