SSB Navy UES 2011 preliminary Campus Interview

Hi Friends,
I am Veena currently doing my final year Btech in computer Science and Engineering in Kerala.Today I Attended my first ever interview in life . It was really a great experience for me. To appear in SSB preliminary interview was a great experience
The initial selection for interview consisted of Group Discussion.Those who were sselected from that had the chance to attend the interview.And am proud that I was one of them.
The method of GD conducted by the Navy officials for our selection was entirely different.We were grouped into a set of 25 people .When we entered the room the Lt Commander who was in charge of us welcomed us and told the method of GD.He said that each one of us had to talk for 1 minute about a topic given.He first gave us an opportunity to select a topic.But Majority did not agree so he himself gave a topic .the topic was our opinion about personality development of a child.that is whether parenting matters more or schooling or something else.
Everyone got the chance to speak and tell their opinion.More than our ideas he was evaluating our method of delivery and speech.after the full round he told us if we wanted a GD on the topic we can have and he will give 3 minutes for GD.one minute to select leader for presenting conclusion and 1 minute for conclusion and a total of 5 minutes.We had the GD and was finished in 5 minutes as he directed.
I believe my sound and delivery of topic was one factor contributed for my selection.what we present should be clearly heard by all.
The next level was interview.It entirely depends on the person who is interviewing you.Our Lt Commandant was very technical for electronics branch students he asked them technical questions more than personal questions.
When my turn came I was a computer science student and he was not familiar with the subject so he asked me wat was my strong point.Then he asked me who is the chief of navy.The main thing kept to be in mind is that every time we name a defence person he should be named together with his rank.Then he asked me who is my favourite singer and talk about him for 30 seconds.After that he told I can leave.this was only the preliminary selection so I think they were not that tough
I think my experience had helped you some people to be familiar with the situations that will happen during the campus interview.May you all will succeed
