One year Post Graduate Programme in Construction Management (PGPCM)
PGPCM is one of the unique courses offered by XIME to develop committed and competent techno managers with the potential to manage construction business / projects at home and abroad. With four batches that have passed out successfully, admissions for the fifth batch is now open. This course is now offered with AICTE approval.
The programme duration is of 12 months, which is divided into four terms of 11 weeks each. The 1st, 2nd and 4th terms are for classroom sessions and construction site visits aimed at learning and acquiring necessary knowledge, skills and perspective to enable the students to function as a competent techno- manager. The student will spend his third term in an internship programme with one of the leading project management firms or construction companies.
The ciriculum
· Sound knowledge of theory and practice of corporate management.
· Proficiency in information technology, finance and people management skills.
· Indepth knowledge of construction business and the economic environment of the industry.
· Proficiency in various aspects of funding, resource mobilization and capital structure of major construction projects.
· Facility to apply knowledge and skills and effective delivery of projects and functional tasks.
The objective
· Students have to take 23 courses in three terms.
· Continuous assessment through case studies, assignments, seminars etc.
· Use of Project Management Software.
· Communication Skills as a separate course and Project Management Techniques give the students intense learning experience and confidence to face the real world challenges of the construction industry.
· Guest lectures on various specializations by eminent professionals
· “On the job Training” during internship.
· Considerable emphasis on group work, group assignments and discussions
· Students enabled to gain knowledge and skills to manage information technology in a networked enterprise.
Admission Information
Eligibility
Graduate in Engineering / Architecture from a recognized university with good academic record.
Preference will be given to those having construction work experiance and candidates sponsored by their employers.
Candidates should have complketed all their degree examinations before May 31, 2008.
Fee Structure
The Programme fees covering Admission, Tuition, Library, Computer. Examinations, Diploma and Activities is Rs. 90,000/-
Cost of textbooks and course materials Rs. 7,500/-.
Caution Deposit Rs. 6,000/- Refundable at the end of the course after adjusting any dues to the Institute.
Programme Bulletin and Application form available at XIME from March 10, 2008 on payment of Rs. 500/ by cash or DD drawn in favour of Xavier Institute of Management & Entrepreneurship.
Last date of registration of applications April 30, 2008. Interviews: In the second week of May 2008.
Programme Commences: June 9, 2008.
