The scene was not before 1983 when Indian cricket team won the world cup. Earlier, cricket were famous in India but not like today, as then people were equally interested to Hockey. However, the cricket fever spread all of India with the world cup win. The media gave them more coverage and popularity and it become a craze. Since then Indian cricket has come a long way and become a most important game which involved our emotions and life. Now, if you look at the crowd in IPL, you will find that not only kids and young people, but older people too enjoy the game. Those who were not aware of ABCD of cricket become cricket Pandits! There is a saying in India that only cricket and war remind us of our unity.

Though in 90s there were so many controversies over match fixing and few cricketers found guilty too, finally it is the game which has won against all odds. I only wish that because of cricket other sports & games should not suffer. The players from other fields too should get what they deserve. Then only we can actually become the sports lovers in true sense.
