First Prize : Rs. 25,000/-,
Second Prize : Rs. 15,000/- and
Third Prizes(2) : Rs. 5,000/- each.

A nationwide project contest for college students will be held by SSN Research Centre, the cutting edge science and technology research laboratories of SSN Institutions http://www.rc.ssn.edu.in . SSN Research Centre, established in 2007, is focused on research in important areas related to
Increased efficiency in energy generation and utilization,

Advanced materials to enable new technological applications and

Embedded microprocessor integration in operational and safety critical applications.

The National Science and Technology Project Contest - 2008 is open to all graduate and post-graduate level college students who are currently on the rolls of recognized science / engineering / technology / management universities and institutes in India. Contestants must submit a Project Study on the topic: “Concept and design of a wearable mobile phone integrated wristwatch”.

Mobile phone technology has made great strides in the past decade and yet a conveniently wearable phone integrated to a wrist watch is yet to emerge as a popular device. See “Towards the wearable phone” at http://www.e-principles.com/article_25.htm and “Have you ever installed a phone on your wrist” http://www.genuineideas.com/HallofInventions/Wristphonestory/youwillposter.htm as examples.

It is evident that there remain many technological problems to be solved in functional optimization, processor design, power conservation, heat dissipation, materials technology and human engineering before such a device can become real and popular.

SSN Research Centre gives you an opportunity to pit your intellect against these scientific and technological challenges. You can also win attractive cash prizes plus opportunities to be research interns. College students in India are invited to submit concept and design outline studies for a wearable mobile phone-watch.
