Required eligibilities

The candidates wishing to appear at this forest service examination should be a graduate from a recognized or university or its equivalent institute with a single subject of science stream or agriculture, forestry and animal husbandry. The persons appearing at such graduation examination are also eligible to appear at the forest examination. The minimum age of candidates should be not less than 21 years while the maximum age must not exceed 30 years. The general category candidates can appear at this examination for four times and there is no limits of appearance for the SC, ST candidates while the OBC candidates can appear for seven times.

Format of examination

The format of this examination is descriptive and essayistic. There are questions from general English and general knowledge. There are two optional papers of two subjects opted for by the candidates of 200 marks each.

Preparation strategy

English occupies prominent place in this examination. Therefore, to increase the knowledge of English, reading daily news papers is essential. Reading English related books and novels help a lot. For preparing for GK, NCERT books of 12th standard should be studied deeply. Apart from this, Jagaran Varshiki and unique Guide should be studied too. Listen to the daily news for updating yourself in current affairs and have a concerted focus on them. Beware of your weaknesses of the optional subjects you have opted for and remove it for good before the commencement of the examination. You shall be called thereafter for interview.
