Performance in the Previous Seasons:

2010 season-2nd place

Mumbai Indians owned by Mukesh Ambani of Reliance industries limited had been inconsistent in the last three seasons although they secured the second place in the third season. With the new team we shall expect a good show in this season. They have retained four players Sachin Tendulkar,Lasith Malinga, Harbhajan Singh and Kieron Pollard from the previous seasons. The four players have good experience in the Indian grounds. They have also bought Ambati Rayadu, Dilhara Fernando, Aditya Tare and Rajagopal Satish in the auctions who have already played for Mumbai Indians.

Schedule:

Matches in other grounds:

1.Delhi Daredevils vs Mumbai Indians on April 10th 2011(4.00 p.m)

3.Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings on April 22nd 2011(8 p.m)

4.Mumbai Indians vs Kings XI Punjab on May 2nd 2011 (4 p.m)

5.Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Daredevils on May 7th 2011(8 p.m)

6.Mumbai Indians vs Deccan chargers on May 14th 2011(8 p.m)

7.Mumbai Indians vs Rajasthan Royals on May 20th 2011 (8 p.m)

Major advantages:

The Mumbai Indians have the advantage of having the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar as their captain in their team. His role as an opener is very crucial for them. Harbhajan Singh and Malinga have to do their jobs as the main bowlers. Malinga's performance in the death overs is going to be crucial for them. Bhajji has to bowl well on spinning tracks. Kieron Pollard and Andrew Symonds will be explosive in the middle order. Ambati Rayadu and Rohit Sharma will bring more stability to the batting order. Moises Henriques and James Franklin will come as good all-rounders.

Setbacks:

They have lost key players such as Saurabh Tiwary, Zaheer Khan, Ryan Mclaren ,JP Duminy and Dwayne Bravo. Sachin Tendulkar's fitness is going to be a key one. Their bowling department is going to be a concern. They depend too much on Lasith Malinga. Harbhajan has not been successful in taking wickets. If Malinga doesn't do well with the ball they are going to be in trouble.

Verdict:

As a die hard Mumbai Indian fan you can definitely expect good cricket from the players. Starting as runner up in the previous 2010 season puts more pressure on them. They need to perform well in the lights of Sachin who was the leading run scorer in the previous season. If their foreign players perform well they might win this fourth edition of IPL.
