IIT 2011 Question Paper Format & Marking Scheme

Today i.e., on 10-04-2011 All India Entrance Examination, IIT-JEE was held all over our nation. This time the paper is relatively easy when compared to other previous years. Average marks can be scored easily. The paper format is as follows,



Paper 1 Format

(Maximum Marks: 240)

Number of questions: 69

[Chemistry - 23, Physics - 23, Mathematics - 23]


1. The question paper consists of 3 parts (Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics). Each part consists of four sections.
2. In Section I (Total Marks: 21), for each question you will be awarded 3 marks if you darken ONLY the bubble corresponding to the correct answer and zero marks if no bubble is darkened. In all other cases, minus one (-1) mark will be awarded.
3. In Section II (Total Marks: 16), for each question you will be awarded 4 marks if you darken ALL the bubble(s) corresponding to the correct answer(s) ONLY and zero marks otherwise. There is no negative mark in this section.
4. In Section III (Total Marks: 15), for each question you will be awarded 3 marks if you darken ONLY the corresponding to the correct answer and zero marks if no bubble is darkened. In all other cases, minis one (-1) mark will be awarded.
5. In Section IV (Total marks: 28), for each question you will be awarded 4 marks if you darken ONLY the corresponding to the correct answer and zero marks if no bubble is darkened. There is no negative marking this section.



Paper 2 Format

(Maximum Marks: 240)

Number of questions: 60

[Chemistry - 20, Physics - 20, Mathematics - 20]

1. The question paper consists of 3 parts (Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics). Each part consists of four sections.
2. In Section I (Total Marks: 24), for each question you will be awarded 3 marks if you darken ONLY the bubble corresponding to the correct answer and zero marks if no bubble is darkened. In all other cases, minus one (-1) markwill be awarded.
3. In Section II (Total Marks: 16), for each question you will be awarded 4 marks if you darken ALL the bubble(s) corresponding to the correct answer(s) ONLY and zero marks otherwise. There is no negative mark in this section.
4. In Section III (Total Marks: 24), for each question you will be awarded 4 marks if you darken ONLY the corresponding to the correct answer and zero marks otherwise. There is no negative mark in this section.
5. In Section IV (Total marks: 16), for each question you will be awarded 2 marks for each row in which you have darkened ALL the bubble(s) corresponding to the correct answer(s) ONLY and zero marks otherwise. Thus, each question in this section carries a maximum of 8 marks. There is no negative marking this section.
