If you want to become teacher, then passing central teacher ability test is compulsory now. What will be the type of the test like and to prepare for the test is being discussed below.
In today's times, it's hidden to nobody how important the education is. Be it for earning a livelihood, or to re-establish the social values or be it for understanding life better, education is a must in every conditions and a guaranty to a better life. But, according to the specialists, education has not yet reached its true aims for which separate logic could be advanced as for instance, there are no able teachers, weak syllabus, shortage of fund, and the flexibilities in the governmental policies. After several recommendations of several committees, government at last has decided to bring changes in the field of education under which emphasises the first priority on quality education and selection of able teachers on a measuring yardstick. And this measuring yardstick is CTET. Its chief aim is to select able teachers on central and regional levels. Under this scheme of things, the NCERT is going to conduct CTET test to appoint teachers for government schools at central and state levels for the classes beginning 1st to 8th. It's only aim is to make appointments of teachers on an uniform and qualitative basis. According to specialists, this type of education is being imparted in foreign from long ago. But this type of CTET test is going to be conducted in India for the first time rounds. This is the reason why CTET is much under discussion these days.
What is CTET?
Under the sub clause 1 of section 23 of the right to education Act, National Council for Teachers Education has fixed a criterion for the teachers teaching children from 1st to 8th. Any teacher coming into its ambits will have to appear and pass the CTET test. Teachers belonging to any category, whether working as TGT or JBT, on regular basis or on a contract basis, passing this CTET test is compulsory. If a state does not take TET test, students from this state would have to pass the CTET test.
Benefits of CTET
According to experts, there is uniformity in the appointment related matters of teachers in all developing countries but here in India, rules vary from state to state. Uniformity will bring respects for teachers and none will look at their degrees with suspicion, because such degrees to them will be awarded not by the states but by the centre. This process will enhance the number of able teachers in the field of education.
For the teachers teaching the students from 1st to 5th, having 50% in senior secondary stage, and two years elementary education or four years of bachelor of elementary education or two years diploma in special education or B ED is must. And for the teachers teaching from 6th to 8rth, apart from teaching certificate, graduation is a must. If you have this type of eligibility, you can appear for the CTET test.
Type of questions
The criterion for questions and rules shall be as follows:
- There shall be two question papers.
- Each question paper will be of one and half hours of duration.
- There shall be 150 questions in each question papers.
- To maintain uniformity in evaluation only multi optional questions shall be asked in both the question papers.
- There shall be no negative marking in TET question papers.
There shall be a single screening test of CTET for the appointment of teachers who shall be put in the merit list of the teachers to be appointed as required.
