Why This Programme?
In the current economic scenario, organizations are required to increase both their efficiency and effectiveness to effectively compete in the marketplace and to add value to their various stakeholders. To achieve these twin objectives of enhancing efficiency and effectiveness, the organizations need to manage all their resources better. Employees are, increasingly, one of the most important resources. Thus, organizations need to align individual employee performance with the overall organizational goals to make their more effective use. This has brought in a renewed focus on employee performance.
To respond to this need to manage performance more effectively, we are presenting this programme on Performance Management. Performance management is a recent concept which holistically looks at many processes related to performance like deriving individual goals from organizational goals; goal setting; performance appraisal; performance counseling; recognition and rewards; and employee development. We look at all these aspects in this programme which aims to make the participants to better manage their own performance and that of the people working with them. Thus the programme is going to contribute to enhancing the performance of the sponsoring organizations through enhancing the performance of their managers.
Programme Objectives
The programme has the following three broad objectives:
1) Develop a critical appreciation of concepts related to performance management. 2) Help the participants develop and practice the skills related to performance management. 3) Help the participants understand the broader context of organizational and individual performance.

Programme Methodology
The programme would consist of a mix of personal assessments; individual and group exercises; concept sessions; case discussions; and personal explorations. The participants would also be provided one on one personal time with Prof. Jha to improve their own performance management skills.
Programme Director and Faculty
The Programme is designed and directed by Prof. Vidyanand Jha, Fellow, IIMA. He has been teaching the elements of performance management for last few years and has an interest in both the concepts and practice of performance management.
The Programme may also include some other speakers from academia and industry.
Programme Eligibility
The programme is aimed at managers at various levels in the organization and from various functional areas who wish to improve their understanding of performance management and who also wish to learn the skills related to managing their own and their subordinates’ performance better. We are aiming to get managers from a variety of backgrounds to juxtapose multiple and diverse viewpoints in the group. A high degree of willingness to work with oneself is desirable.

Arrival/Departure
For the participants, accommodation is arranged from the evening of the day before the programme. Participants are requested to report at the Reception Desk of Tata Hall latest by 9.00 a.m. on the first day of the Programme. Reception of Tata Hall is manned round the clock.
The Programmes are expected to be over by 2. 00 p.m. on the last day of the Programme. The participants are requested/expected to make their travel plan accordingly.
Programme Fees: Rs. 22,000/- (Rupees twenty two thousand only)
Programe fees are to be paid by Demand Draft/Cheque payable at any Bank in Kolkata. The DD/Ch. should be made in favour of “Indian Institute of Management Calcutta” and sent to the below mentioned address at least three weeks prior to the commencement of any MDP.
